Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Hey everyone, flying twice same day on QF. MEL-CBR on Y in the morning, CBR-SYD on J in the evening. Would I have access to the J lounge in MEL, or relegated to the Club?

Thanks in advance!

Are these connecting flights? If so, then you may have a chance showing the lounge agent at the business lounge your onward SYD boarding pass but technically they should not allow you in the business lounge as you're a Gold travelling in Y. You may want to use one of the two apology Qantas business lounge invites Uncle Alan gave us this week as Gold.

Regardless, having been to both the Club and the J lounge at MEL it's not a huge deal either way.

Many other WP and above here have suggested otherwise, especially post renovation that shunted the QP to the darkened rear but maybe for a morning flight it’s a coin toss?

If it were a lunchtime or later flight, I know where I’d rather be.

Hey all, flying Jetstar later in the year PER-DPS as a QF WP and trying to work out the lounge rules at both Perth T1 and DPS. Anyone know what I'd be eligible for (if anything) at the moment? I've seen some say other OW airlines have directed them to the T1 Aspire Lounge by JQ doesn't have a lot of information on this topic.

With the Pub at PER closed permanently and DPS looking like its only eligible if you're on a JQ Business Max fare (which is kinda pointless out of Perth since they only fly all economy A320s PER/DPS/PER), I'm not sure I'm eligible for anything. Can anyone confirm/deny based on recent experiences?

The issue I see is that JQ international flights depart from T1 yet there is no QF lounge in T1 or T2 (just T3/T4 domestic/international concourses). You can point out your QF World Platinum status during check in to see if you will get any sort of lounge access, if they say no, but you see a Qantas desk, head there and ask if you can get lounge access. Depending on the circumstances, you may be given a voucher to enter a partner lounge in the terminal. This was precisely what happened to me when I was flying out of HNL back in May on JQ as a Gold and the QF lounge there was closed:

You can try and apply a similar technique over at DPS but again don't be surprised if they just say no. The good news is if you really want lounge access you can often pay your way into some of these lounges.

Depending on your travels, you may even want to consider a credit card that offers lounge access as a perk. For instance the $1,450/year AmEx Platinum card offers complimentary lounge access to over a thousand lounges including the AmEx Centurion lounges at SYD, MEL, LAX, SFO and elsewhere. Interestingly enough, this also includes Virgin Australia lounges when you are flying with them. Whilst that price seems quite excessive for a charge card you'll get a $450 travel credit you can use every year, complimentary Accor+ status (worth $400/year) which gets you a free night at a number of Accor properties in APAC to say nothing of the deep discounts on Accor properties (i.e. I was able to book the Novotel Sydney Airport for $125/night). There's also a $400/year dining credit. Lastly, if you spend $5,000 in your first three months on the card you'll net 150,000 AmEx membership reward points which can be transferred one to one to a variety of partners including Emirates, Singapore, Cathay Pacific, Velocity, Virgin Atlantic and several others. There's also the International Airline Program which offers discounts of anywhere from 5% to 10% when booking premium cabin (Premium Economy or better) on a variety of partners including Qantas, Virgin Australia and Delta to name but a few.

Apologies for the "pitch" there but I'm really enjoying my Canadian AmEx Platinum card having used the lounge benefit a number of times when flying out of terminals which don't have a QF lounge (i.e. T2 at SYD when flying JQ).

Good morning all, I have a QFF award booking for July next year. Booking is all on one ticket. Details are:-

QF509 BNE-SYD in J
BA16 SYD-SIN in W (business award seats not available)
AF257 SIN-CDG in J

We have a 5 hour layover at SYD and was wondering if I would get lounge access at SYD International and if so which lounge/s. We then have 1 1/2 hour layover at SIN so probably not a enough time for a lounge visit, but would like to know which lounges we could use if time permits. I don't hold status and don't have QC Membership. Thank you all.

If you arrive on time or early into SIN you might have time for a quick lounge visit off the back of your AF J BP. You’ll otherwise be just heading to the connecting gate where they do secondary security screening. Once at your gate, there’s nothing.

Unfortunately, I don’t think you’ll get T1 lounge access off your inbound domestic J flight.

Different PNR, but considering OLCI is available, I would likely have the BPs for both flights on my phone before I fly to CBR. Don't think it's a big deal either since the J Noodle Bar in MEL doesn't open til lunch anyway.

Though have you seen those apology invites pop up on the website? Can only see my one general lounge pass that I transferred to someone else months ago.

Thank you @SYD

Confirmed. There are no OW lounge rules which would permit lounge access prior to the SYD-SIN flight in PE.

Hi Help Desk, hoping you can help with a query (I already tried turning AFF off and on again).

We (2 adults, 1 child) have a few AA J/U domestic legs coming up at the end of the year as part of an OWA. I don't have status with QF, but wife is Gold, so looks like she gets access to AA lounges with 'one guest'. Looking at AA website suggests anyone over 2 is a guest.

Anyone have any experience/knowledge as to how strictly this might be applied in real life? Just trying to work out if one of us (ie. me) will be left standing outside looking in (not likely to pay US$59 for access).

Can anyone clarify for the Qatar Premium Lounge at SIN, when traveling on QF, whether (a) a QFF rewards J redemption and (b) Y revenue with points upgrade would have access to the lounge?

The information online is a bit spotty and not entirely consistent. Apparently J redemptions are allowed in but upgraded tickets are not allowed, but all the QR page says is:
For Qatar Airways and oneworld First and Business class ticketed revenue customers only.
Which would suggest that rewards passengers are not allowed at all.

I understood the “upgrade” exclusion was for QR flights, whereas award tickets are accepted. There are reports of people on award tix travelling on QR have been turned away from lounges outside DOH.

I would expect a QF BP in J should be accepted - hopefully others have recent experience. I had a chance to test that a few weeks ago but I was happy in the QF 1st lounge and the QR lounge only opened shortly before I boarded my flight to PER.

I've visited the QR SIN lounge when travelling on QF J (on an upgraded 'U' fare). With your scenario/s you should be fine, and even if something were to upset that plan, you still have options in Changi anyway, including the QF Singapore Lounge, which is 'ok'.

Cheers,
Matt.

Apologies if this is not the correct thread… however I recently transferred some lounge passes to family, linked to their booking, and they were unable to use the lounge due to time constraints. Is there any way to redeem these unused passes, or are they burned when linked to a booking?
