Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Re: Emirates first class connecting in London Heathrow

Some BA domestic tickets are marketed as 'UK Business' and confer lounge access. It will be printed on the boarding pass if that's the case.
Yes but this will be an EK issued ticket, or QF, not BA issued.

Re: Emirates first class connecting in London Heathrow

Yes but this will be an EK issued ticket, or QF, not BA issued.

a) The standard online booking tool does not allow an itin from DBX-GLA, which makes me think a stand alone domestic ticket has been bought.
b) QF will sometimes provide award bookings using BA flights within the UK, they used to have a QF codeshare LHR-GLA, however this has been removed. The online booking system does prefer DBX-GLA direct flights.

Re: Emirates first class connecting in London Heathrow

Reciprocal lounge access is offered for pax connecting between an international long-haul flight in J or F, and a domestic flight in any class, however this is a oneworld benefit and is specified as "oneworld marketed and operated flights". Since EK aren't a oneworld airline I don't think your flight will qualify, so I suspect you will be out of luck :(

Re: Emirates first class connecting in London Heathrow

BA don't have first LHR Glasgow so you will be able to use BA business lounges if you have QF WP (for BA F) or SG I believe.

Why stop in LHR? Don't EK fly direct DXB to Glasgow? Was thinking of the return leg last year and they did then.
The OP did say that the DXB-GLA flight was not available.

Ok. We need to hear from paulineoneill for more details.

Re: Emirates first class connecting in London Heathrow

As per Mal. Lounge access at LHR is entirely dependent on the booking class for the LHR-GLA flight (assuming no One World Status). Fully flexible tickets on UK domestic have access to the Business Lounge. The Emirates flight or class is irrelevant here to the onward connecting flight.
I suspect extracting this information from Qantas may be difficult and I also suspect that the booking class for Pauline's LHR-GLA may not be a fully flexible ticket.
Fingers crossed that it is, but I think that BA Award seats on that flight will be standard Y.

EDIT: Can the mods please move this thread to either the Lounge Access Help Desk or the QFF forum, whichever they feel is more appropriate than the EK forum? Thanks

Thank you everyone for your responses. I think it looks like I won't be getting access to the lounge before my Glasgow flight :-(

Lounge access

Hi
Booked directly with Singapore and flying with them in economy. As a VFF platinum member, not sure what lounge I can access prior to my flight from Singapore back to Sydney.

I also have a complimentary Priority Pass lounge access pass to use. Would any of the PP lounges in Terminal 3 Singapore be better than any lounge I would gain entry to as a VFF Platnium ?

Also, as a VFF WP I'm thinking I can use the SQ lounge in Sydney prior to my departure, is this correct ?

(I originally posted this in Lounge Access sticky last week but didn't get a response, hence posting it here hoping for a response as I fly out tomorrow)

thanks in advance
Kaz

Re: Lounge access

As I understand it, you can use the Krisflyer Gold Lounge at SIN. As well as the SQ lounge at SYD.

Re: Lounge access

As a VA WP flying on SQ in Y last August from ADL, I was told by VA that I was not allowed access to the SQ lounge in ADL. I didn't test that out, just stayed in the VA lounge. In SIN I was allowed into the Krisflyer Gold lounge.

Hi Anna. You should have had access to SQ Lounge in ADL. My partner is WP and I'm SG and we have never had an issue with lounge access flying SQ Y from ADL. Just checked the VA website and it confirms same. :)

Singapore lounges - Qantas or Emirates?

Hi,

I'm just trying to figure out my lounge options for my upcoming flight from Singapore to Melbourne

I booked a J class seat through Qantas with points, and opted for an Emirates flight (EK404/405). Does this mean I can only use the Emirates lounge, or can I use the Qantas lounge as well? If I can pick one or the other, does anyone have ideas on which one I should go for?

Thanks!

Re: Singapore lounges - Qantas or Emirates?

I never thought I'd say it but if you can choose a lounge then Emirates lounge in SIN is the go.

Much better variety of food.

Re: Singapore lounges - Qantas or Emirates?

Salad, soup & coughtails in the QF lounge.
Next door for a main course and champagne in the EK lounge
Then back to the QF lounge for dessert and more coughtails :p

I will have to check it out next time. I personally think that the QF SIN lounge is one of the very best lounges out there (better than the DXB EK F lounge in the A380 terminal).

I think the HKG lounge is now in front. But I guess we are looking at it from 2 different points of view.

- lounge atmosphere
- variety of food

Splutter .. cough. ..

Each to their own opinion of course but (QF SIN Vs EK F DXB):

* buffet and fixed 'dish of the day' VS full a la carte menu

* no spa vs spa

* crowding common Vs you could get lost in there

* Jetstar bogans vs well, OK, some travellers here are inconsiderate

* great drink selection Vs great drink selection

And we aren't yet talking about CX the Wing in HKG. But I have a slight sensation of chain pulling ...

I always choose EK lounge in SIN just to get away from the crowding and bogans in the QF lounge; but the QF lounge is undoubtedly really good. Like the hospital in Yes, Minister, it would be superb if it wasn't for the bloody clients.

And even a cigar lounge (very useful when trying to mask the smell of alcohol before flying to KSA :p)
