Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Award flight connecting to paid flight

Hi All,

I have an award flight in J HEL -SIN booked on AY (very excited about the a350!).

My onward flight (paid unfortunately) into MEL is booked on a QF flight number but on EK metal.

My questions are twofold:

  1. Will I be able to access any lounge in SIN before my onward flight, given I am arriving in J on a OW airline? rules from the QF site seem to indicate I could if onward flight was on a OW airline, however its not - its on EK albeit with a OW code. Perhaps other alliance members will be more flexible?
  2. Is it possible to have the tickets linked so I can check my bags through from HEL - MEL? I have built in a decent length layover to cover on this but it would make the experience far more relaxing if I can make this happen.

Many thanks for any assistance.

Re: Award flight connecting to paid flight

The AY website says they won't interline bags to other airlines on separate tickets (even if in the same pnr) only AY to AY but even then the flights must be marketing and operated by AY. You will need to go the airside transfer desk in SIN to get your boarding pass for the SIN/MEL flight and at the same time they can arrange to have your bag retagged behind the scenes. There is no need to clear customs and immgration and checkin again landside.

What class of travel in SIN/MEL? Do you have OWS or OWE status that would get you into the QF lounge in SIN?

Re: Award flight connecting to paid flight

Thanks Ozbeachbabe,

I confess I didn't think to check Finnair's site as I booked the award through QF.

Arrival into SIN is in J, onward flight SIN - MEL is in Y. I am sadly lacking any OW status. I will have a bunch of QF lounge invitations but would prefer not to use these unless absolutely necessary.

Without status you won't qualify for lounge access. But your lounge invite would work.

PEK lounge?

Flying PEK-SYD in a couple of weeks on a Monday night. QF web site says the available lounge at PEK is the Cathay Pacific lounge. However, the flight is 11:45 PM and the Cathay web site says the lounge doesn't open until 0:30.

Anyone had experience of using a lounge at PEK?

Thanks,

Michael

The CX lounge is the 'official' lounge that you are directed to at check in (if in J or SG and above). I flew the same route last month but used the EK lounge as the CX lounge has a lousy reputation. The EK flight to DXB leaves around the same time as the QF flight but they will kick you out once the EK flight leaves.

Be prepared to educate the lounge dragon on entry as they are not very familiar with the QF/EK agreement and used some lame excuse that they could not scan a QF boarding card. The EK lounge was very close to the QF gate on the day. I am not sure if the gate allocation is constant in PEK.

Qatar lounges in Zagreb

We are flying through Zagreb with Qatar and wanted information on lounges. We are QF CL and will be flying International Business Class on Qatar from Zagreb. I found one lounge called Zrinjevac. Does anyone know anything about this or whether there is another lounge we can access?

Also as part of the trip we are flying into Zabreb with Qatar on Business but then flying domestic with Croatian to Split. Is there any lounge that we can access in Zagreb domestic?

Thanks!

Looks like Zrinjevac is the only OneWorld accessible lounge. There is a 'business lounge' as well, but that looks like it is pay per entry: MeÄ‘unarodna zraÄna luka Zagreb - Franjo TuÄ‘man - Business Lounge

Lounge Pass Access.

A friend is traveling on Emirates Metal, but with a QF flight number, can he have access to the lounge with a complimentary QF lounge pass? Thanks in advance.

there is a Diners club lounge landside which we used last April when flying from Zagreb to Dubrovnik. Hope you are spending some time in Zagreb ( nice little city) and can visit Plitivice Lakes outside Zagreb...breathtakingly beautiful :)

PEK lounge access for QF platinum

Reposting with more informative title

-----------------------------------------------

I am at PEK now, waiting for QF108 to Sydney.

i went to the EK lounge (which is right opposite the QF108 gate) and was told that QF passengers do not have access to the EK lounge in PEK. I showed her a print out from the "Platinum Benefits" page on the QF web site, which clearly states that QF WP members have access to all EK lounges when flying EK or QF. She apologied and said that, when QF started direct flights to PEK a few months ago, they were not able to reach agreement with the EK lounge. I protested that it is an airline to airline agreement NOT a particular lounge agreement; however, there was NO way she was going to allow us into the EK lounge. She was friendly, apologetic but very firm. She even asked if she could copy my printout from the QF web site because she said it is "misleading".

Now in the CX lounge, which is about as far away from the QF gate as it is possible to be.

Pleasant lounge, but VERY limited food, no champagne and no Scotch! (First-world problems, I know ... but it is my wife's birthday and we had been looking forward to ending it with a glass of bubbles!)

QF needs to clarify this. Either the web site needs to say "except Beijing" or QF needs to pressure EK to educate their PEK personnel.

Re: LAX lounge access for QF platinum & first PAX

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere. Google didnt help finding an answer

Currently in Y+ on QF7 with J upgrade requested.
Is it possible to get 2x people into the QF J lounge and then myself +1 into the QF F? ie me rock up at J with 2x pax and ask for them to be let in (guest my own access) and then go to F with my other guest.

If the J upgrade does come through would that help the situation? J pax (guested) + guest then WP + guest

On the return if my QF8 J request comes through could i use similar logic to get 4x pax into AA's DFW lounge?

If this is all wishful thinking then thats fine too.

Is there a diagram that might assist with understanding this question?

Thanks for this reply - it is useful. We will be in Croatia and nearby countries for a few weeks and a doing a week on a yacht followed by about 2 to 3 weeks driving around. We have a couple of nights booked at Plitivice Lakes and are really looking forward to that.

Only 1 Guest in F I understand. Booking class irrelevant unless F of course.

Thanks for the post as I'll be on QF108 in July. My circumstances are slightly different (LTG in J) but at least I have time to chase this before the trip.

I'll try and post back where I get to with it.
