Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions regarding what Airport Lounges are available at specific airports when travelling on specific airlines. While one can be assured of access at the airline lounge when travelling on that airline (provided you have Lounge membership), thing start to get complex when travelling on a codeshare or partner airline.

Posting Guidelines
Please post your questions about Lounge access in this thread. Be sure to include the airline you are travelling on, the airport (and terminal, if known), and any Airline Status or Airport Lounge membership programs you have.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

(Special thanks to Princess Fiona for suggesting this new thread.)

Yes, we are ticketed MEL/SYD in Business on JQ93 using reward points. Their Star Class uses less points than QF J class but more than QF Y class. Only Silver FF and not QF Club as tend to fly more VA than QF domestically.

Ok there are 2 ways to get into the MEL Int J Lounge but will involve $$

1) Ring JQ and add a Max bundle to both tickets.

2) Buy ONE Qantas club membership. One because one qantas club member can invite one guest who is travelling on same flight. But this will cost $399 joining fee plus one year at $540 o_O =$939

The third is to cancel the JQ classic award and see if you can get a QF classic award with a QF flight number. A QF flight number with J seat will get you in.

Let us know how you go.

By the way (out of interest) was a QF flight number Classic reward available at the same time and what was the difference in points and fees? Cos adding a Max bundle might be more expensive than getting a QF flight number in first place

I would normally use a QF reward which costs 16000 points for J, and yes there were plenty of those available, but being a TA I wanted to experience both the 787 and Star Class for myself so could report to clients about it. Been on plenty QF B737/A330s. It cost 12000 points + $43.87 each. As it turns out might not even need the QF lounge as a colleague has just pointed out that my Amex Platinum card will prob get me into the Amex lounge. I had forgotten all about them. But I'll phone and find out what the Bundle costs anyway and advise.

1) I am not sure you can't add any bundles to award tickets.
2) Are you kidding? o_O o_O o_O
3) Unlikely to find that on a tag flight

As you have a J award ticket, you should get access to the MEL int J lounge.

Usual runaround. Jetstar say they cannot add bundle to booking cos was booked through QF, so call QF. Called QF and they say its a Jetstar flight so they cannot change, so call Jetstar. It's an odd case. We're flying in "Business" Class but have no idea what luggage we're allowed, whether we'll get food/drink, preseating, etc. I guess we'll find out at the airport.

HI Folks, I think I know the answer, but just want to confirm.

My partner and I are both QF Bronze and QC Lifetime members.

Flying on a whY BA issued ticket Mel-Sin (BA7403), Sin-LHR (BA12) but the first sector is on Qantas metal (code share).

I am presuming that there will be no access to QFi lounge in Mel as the flight is code share and not a QF flight number.

I would have thought that a QC member flying on any Oneworld carriers would get lounge access. But really two completely different cases as you are Y class on BA international and I am J class on JQ domestic.

Question: Which concourse at BKK does Malaysian use BKK->KUL?

Will be departing BKK for MEL via KUL in August and can't seem to find which concourse MA0789 will likely use. (Trying to look at my lounge options on LoungeBuddy but don't know which concourse)

I’m not sure they have a dedicated concourse. The last 3 times I’ve gone through D,G,E

MH789 also departs from F gates

The international "side" of BKK has DEFG gates. (Domestic are ABC gates)

BTW
MA is the IATA code for the now definct Malev Hungarian airlines.

Hi all, I will have exactly 3 hr layover in London Heathrow terminal 5 (arriving to T5 and flying out from T5 to Canada on a BA flight). I am an QF WP.

Would it be sensible to go to terminal 3 for the CX lounge then get back to terminal 5 for boarding? The alternative and safe option is to stay in the BA first lounge (which is far below the CX standard). Moving between T3 and T5 is time consuming, thus, there is a risk. I will be traveling with Ms Longtoo.

Your thought would be gratefully appreciated.

Assuming three hour layover means three hours between landing of the first flight and scheduled departure of the second, I can't see it being worthwhile moving terminals. While the Tf BA F lounge isn't anything special, its still decent enough. Plus you can book into the spa (I believe?).
