Do you think having a Jetstar card is a disadvantage when applying for this card as they are both Macquarie?

Thanks Plant, legendary! Don't they find out if you have a loan when they do a credit check or does that just give your credit rating not the amount/ number of loans?

Hi again,

Well another call to card services due to account still locked out.
Rang the number provided

There have been five failed login attempts. For your security, this account has been locked.
Please contact Client Service on 1800 806 310 or email [email protected]

Got an Australian guy that said: you need to speak to card services 1300 I'll put you thru.
Actually got a helpful person that:
1. Told account will be unlocked
2. Will send thru new password (4th now)
3. Gave me biller code
4. Gave me ref number
5. Gave me amount left to spend on card
6. The date cycle finishes
7. Will call me when new password generated and walk through getting into account online.

Finally got access to account!
Received phone call but missed it...went to voicemail.
Rang back, but gone home.
Got email with new password.
Login successful and credit card shows this time!
Already receiving bonus points!

Now $199 for the first year, QFF opt in ($50) waived for the first year, and 5 points per $ for the first 10k in 12 months!!!

Glad you finally got there!!

What a crock.
Paid my AGL Electricity bill via BPay via Macq online services.
No bonus points.
Called them and they have informed me that Biller Code 33837 (for AGL in NSW, business name AGL Sales Pty Ltd) is "specialty retail" and not a utility.
After a lot of persistence it's now being "investigated" and I'll get a call back in a couple of days. Will post results.

If it were me, I'd refer to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) in an instant.

That is deception using weasel words, IMHO.

To the "average customers", utilities are to include electricity. Full stop.

If we were to pay for a factory bill, then it may be a different story.

But for personal usage, they would be hard pressed to mount any arguments there.

Have you seen my earlier posts where they stated blandly that "....Qantas does not attract double bonus points (2:1)..." even when their own words states / are stating the opposite ?

I am waiting for Head Office to investigate my complaint.

Agreed, it's a utility - full stop, and the problem that they have miscoded is theirs. Totally misleading conduct on their behalf, would be telling them as formally as possible (email or mail are better than phone) that you will be scalating to FOS. Banks do not like FOS mich as it costs them a lot so this may get their notice.

I can tell you the ActewAGL here in Canberra was considered a utility because I got bonus points. I think I paid over the phone though.

On the subject of Qantas bonus I got them for a $25 spend on seat selection and $455 taxes for an award flight.

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I can't seem to find where the points breakdown per transaction is on the statements or online? All I'm seeing is a total points acrrued per period. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Also, have people received their QP passes yet without having to call up and "remind" them?

Excel spreadsheet

Use 5:1 ratio for eligible spending (1:1 for others, 2:1 for QF)

Double check with what you were given. You may be surprised.

....Also, have people received their QP passes yet without having to call up and "remind" them?

Even with repeated reminders, it is still not here

I have just lodged another complaint with them.
I made a payment to Sydney Water via BPay and there are no bonus points. This too has been escalated (at least the CSR didn't have the nerve to tell me they are "specialty retail").
So far the only automatic bonus point assignment has been Woolworths.

Awaiting a response from them.

(and as stated, I'm using an Excel spreadsheet to monitor per transaction points, and yes, internally they keep track of your points to two decimal places)

Oh gosh no. That sounds way too painful.

This is the most archaic system ever. Can't change pin code. No easy way to track points. Lots of hassles with MAC codes and the like. Cannot wait to get rid of this card once the bonus period is up!

Offer has now been doubled on the QF site to "Qantas Frequent Flyer Rewards is now available on the prestigious Macquarie Visa Platinum Card from Macquarie. So why not accelerate your points earning power with a smart 5 Qantas Frequent Flyer points per dollar spent on eligible everyday purchases at supermarkets, petrol stations and utilities for the first 12 months of your account being open, for your first $10,000 spent on purchases in these categories*."

I have emailed to ask if I can get onto this offer.

Macquarie MPW Qantas Frequent Flyer exclusive offer

I was thinking that this was a badly worded offer, and just confirmed with card services that only the $50 charge is waived, and you need to pay the $200 annual card fee.

Would have been great otherwise, would have been offering to pay all the families utilities bills (with cash exchanged of course)

I got the QC passes on Friday - exactly after 60 days post activation - after two reminders.

It appears they time it that way, doesn't it ?

The passes are labelled "for DOMESTIC lounges" but the accompanying letter stated in B&W that they are for INT Business Lounges as well.

The lounge dragons would be perfectly entitled to refuse my entry on the basis of the cards themselves (not that I need the passes myself).

On the back of the cards it is stated in B&W "NOT for INT lounges".

I am not sure what sort of games Macquarie wishes to play with us here.

Now, ... on with revealing my mother's maiden name etc.... again before I could ask them "why"

No wonder they do not deserve my patronage post the first (free) year.

I'm thinking of ringing again for the 150th time to followup on possible........4 additional card holders for FREE?????
Wondering if they will stuff up and bill me if I put in additional card holders request?

Edit: Got through to Nella and told 4x are Free to us!

I reminded then of the passes but still nothing (it is not 60 days after activation yet though), the MAC problem is still giving my wife problems, she hasn't been able to check her jetstar account since I got his Mac card (with her supplement). She has called them many time saying she needs a new MAC ID and they just change her password...

The real crazy thing is I could not access my jetstar acount for weeks with the MAC problem having jetstar and Mac shared MAC ID, I cancelled it and they could not send me a final statement until after the balance was due, so I had to pay the final amount when I hadn't seen the statement or what I was paying for!!
