Macquarie Visa Plat - Fee Free 1st yr + 25k Qantas Pts for $5000 spend

I got the QC passes on Friday - exactly after 60 days post activation - after two reminders.

It appears they time it that way, doesn't it ?

The passes are labelled "for DOMESTIC lounges" but the accompanying letter stated in B&W that they are for INT Business Lounges as well.

The lounge dragons would be perfectly entitled to refuse my entry on the basis of the cards themselves (not that I need the passes myself).

On the back of the cards it is stated in B&W "NOT for INT lounges".

I am not sure what sort of games Macquarie wishes to play with us here.

Now, ... on with revealing my mother's maiden name etc.... again before I could ask them "why"

No wonder they do not deserve my patronage post the first (free) year.

I would get them to send out some international ones Legroom. Someone else had this problem, the terms is International passes not domestic and could get refused.

I have just lodged another complaint with them.
I made a payment to Sydney Water via BPay and there are no bonus points. This too has been escalated (at least the CSR didn't have the nerve to tell me they are "specialty retail").
So far the only automatic bonus point assignment has been Woolworths.

Awaiting a response from them.

(and as stated, I'm using an Excel spreadsheet to monitor per transaction points, and yes, internally they keep track of your points to two decimal places)

Same here. Paid a substantial amount to Origin Energy and it did not get the bonus points!

They are investigating.

What's with this shonky Business practice? Surely they need to tighten their process and not rely on the customer to check for these things.

Anyone had luck with bonus points when paying phone/internet bills (including mobiles)? Are they considered a utility as far as Macquarie is concerned??

I was told today by Macquarie "No, you cannot use the passes for international lounges" despite the covering letter accompanying the passes stated the opposite.

I am writing a letter to:

Alan Machet
Head of Cards
Macquarie Card Services
PO BOX 3665
Rhodes NSW 2138

I'd suggest you guys do the same with your complaint - Go straight to the top as it is so bad with the call centre.

I'm sure he doesn't work at Rhodes... I'd be sending it Registered Mail Person to Person: Registered Post - Australia Post

No it wasn't for me. Through Telstra. I have found I have received all of the other bonus points.

Should be international club vouchers in Black and white. Can't believe they are sending out domestic ones....

I have now been told that BPay payments are not eligible for bonus points (to AGL and Sydney Water)
What a crock. Escalated further.

I also received domestic lounge passes, with the same letter stating international lounge.

Called them up on Tuesday morning to ask why and they said they will look into it. Was called back a short time later by another rep asking for more details, and he said he would escalate this issue and said I should hear back from them by Friday.

Hopefully this will be sorted out before I go overseas in a few weeks :p

The response you received is better than mine "Domestic Lounges only" - after checking with "supervisor".

I don't think anyone at the call centre had any clue of what is going on, what is actually on the public offer etc...

Please update us with what response you receive.

I had posted my complaint to the "Head of Macquarie Cards"

Just signed up for one of these babies using the very useful link on page 7 of this discussion board.

Got to love the bonus points with no annual fee!!!

Got to love the bonus points with no annual fee!!!

According to post number 177 (p 18) the $200 annual fee is now being charged.
I need to ring and confirm and cancel my application if so as the earning opportunities for me are minimal.
I used the original link provided in post number1 and that offer is worded different to the offer in the later link.

a lot of work for a substandard card. I went through the motions but even just managing the card online it was pretty average

As an update to receiving domestic lounge passes, I called them up again Friday to find out what was going on with my query to which they replied that they would again escalate it and call me back Monday.

Received a call earlier today (Monday) and the representative apologised for the lounge pass mixup and said that they would be posting out my international lounge passes today by express post, so I should receive them tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest. Also free to keep the domestic lunge passes. (Not sure what I'm going to do with them, usually don't spend too much time in the domestic terminal)

Now to wait and see what arrives in the mail...

If true as promised, that is a good outcome.

I am still waiting for Head Office to reply to this same issue.

I managed to use my domestic passes in the Int a lounge a few weeks ago but could have been a bad outcome if not accepted. I will be contacting them on my return. Not sure this card is worth the effort

Well my card arrived today, before I could follow up on the annual fee waiver.
From the accompanying letter, I can confirm that the annual fee is waived for first year.
