I'm hoping they come up with something better to tell me, but I'm not holding my breath for it. I was planning to switch cards at the end of the year anyway (for more sign-up bonuses but will probably do it sooner now.
I just received a call back from them, the lady wasn't the easiest to understand (I couldn't pick her accent exactly, but I'd guess Sri Lankan or Filipino). They are going to give me 750 QFF points for the inconvenience, and said it "shouldn't happen again", however since it's obviously caused by their systems being cough and they've not doing to do anything about it, I'd say that is more of a "hopefully you don't complain about it again" response.
Since my year is almost up, there shouldn't be much opportunity for it to happen again since I'll just need to decide who has the best sign-up bonus on offer.
