I sent in my app from the link 2 weeks ago they called me to ask me to send in my tax return,
I asked to check that I would be getting the 40k and the 2 passes and she said no I had not used the link i said I had she said she couldn't see that so i said tear up the application.
whats their problem . great that i asked or I would be stuck with another card and no bonus.

make sure you check that you are getting the bonus.
 
Sent in the application weeks ago and had pretty much given up on it after reading this thread. Was never prompted for payslips or anything.
Yesterday however the black envelope arrived in the mail...

The letter of offer confirmed the $99 reduced annual fee and also stated $0 for joining QFF rewards (usually costs $50) as in the promotion.
Of course, when I called to activate the guy went through the usual "there is a $50 fee for joining QFF rewards instead of Macquarie". Only took 30s and me saying once or twice that my letter of offer says differently: he checked with a manager and then confirmed that as part of the Qantas promotion there was no fee for joining QFF rewards.

Don't let them push this on you! The call centre guys are obviously not quite up on the promotion details.

Will see how long it takes for the points to post.

I never seem to have a problem getting credit cards - I think this is my 5th in 12 months chasing signup points.

Could be something to do with that fact that I have no mortgage, debt or kids, and my wife and I both working makes monthly expenses pretty low.

That's a rather personal question... yet I am also curious :p

At a guess, the 87 in Leroy87's handle could mean that they are ~26 years old. Given this is Australia, most 26 year olds earn double to triple what I earn, so who knows :rolleyes:

I just called up Macquarie cards, and they said I have been approved :) $14000 credit limit, a bit high!
Should get the cards in the mail this week. So maybe the under $100K income/salary may come into play....But it is probably just a myth!
 
manlai, when you activated the card did you have to call up and tell them you want to opt into Qantas and also did they waive the opt in fee without asking?

I clled to activate the card and was asked which membership program I wanted - I said QFFR.

As for the fee....in the T&C's with the card it says I will be debited $0....so if I see any money coming out I will be calling them!

Same. Income of about 130k about 15k credit outstanding on cards with about a 20k limit and no debt.
Got rejected without even an explanation.
 
Hmm not sure how they work it out. How many credit cards have you applied for this year?? This is my 2nd card this year.

Should I try my luck with the WW EDR MasterCard? :)
 
Just received the card with a very nice limit.
Was painless to apply. Just asked for a payslip. I think all done within 2 weeks from online application (one of the easiest I have seen) to card receipt.
Activated the card and they confirmed the 40k points offer without me even having to ask.
All very well handled.
Could be a good card to 'protect' the Woolies card with the ATO payments.
The insurance is nice ... so who knows I may end up keeping it.
 
Grr... opted into QFF direct earn when I received the card (3 weeks ago) and just received a Macquarie Rewards Brochure in the mail.

Called to enquire, was told "Oops - you're on the macquarie program... oh no your not, you're on the Qantas program... hang on, I'm not sure"

They called me back today to say "OK - you activated your card on the 30th Oct, but only opted into QFF rewards on 15th November" (not true) -- still under investigation....

Given some of the other pain in this and the other thread, I have a feeling this is going to be an uphill battle :(
