Really need to stop booking flights on VA and their "partners".:(

If it's of any consolation JohnK, VA sent me a survey to do. Their IT and their make shift alliance did not fair well in my responses!

I arrived into MEL SKL J Lounge one night to discover I had 1 black shoe and 1 dark brown shoe on - way too late to do anything about it - I wore them a full week in China and I swear I was the only person who noticed.

Perfectly normal ... if "some years back" was in the '80's ;).

I recall frequently wearing different socks to nightclubs ... usually one fluoro pink and the other fluoro green. It was all the rage, but bloody embarrassing to think back now about it! (the girls loved it though and that was all that mattered  )

I've been intermittently cursing ExpertFlyer for the last two days because a saved HKG-BKK search wouldn't show any departures later than 18:50.
Of course, I eventually I realised I'd entered the parameters as 'BKK-HKG'.
Fortunately though, my inherent bone-idleness had prevented me from complaining to EF in the mean time, thus at least sparing me further ignominy.

As OW is my usual choice, I am still in learning mode for Star Alliance.

Booked several European flights (fortunately short haul) in Business, and applied my TK M&S number.
No miles posted.

Have since discovered that they booked in P, and that P is non-earning.
Rookie error.

Anxiously checked some future long haul bookings and was immensely relieved to find that they tick the right boxes.
Much to learn yet. :)

I accidentally booked on a VA getaway fare for four people lucky I caught it in 10 minutes and called VA and they upgraded the booking to an elevate fare (it was an extra $3 per person) and they waved the change fee

Last year, I was flying from Bergen, Norway (BGO) to ZRH, and I was supposed to firstly make a domestic connection through OSL. BGO is a pretty small airport, so domestic and international connections all share a single security area. You're supposed to turn left after security for domestic flights, right for international.

Needless to say, I stupidly turned the wrong way, and made myself comfortable outside my gate (or, so I thought. And no airline lounges available in BGO!). I was starting to wonder why on earth my flight wasn't boarding yet, when I suddenly heard them paging me on the PA system...

Very costly rookie-level mistake which I shouldn't have made - and I had actually used that airport before. That was the only time in my life that I've missed a flight, and I'm going to make sure that it REMAINS the only time!

Booked a non-changeable and non - refundable 1 night hotel booking and minutes later realized it was for the wrong day! Luckily after contacting the hotel directly and then the booking agent I was able to change the date. Phew!

Bad travel mistake.
Today was 1st day of school holidays in NSW.
Booked way ahead (so did not realise the school holidays, but should have) SYD-OOL QFF 861 (Qantas feral flight)

J was 8 kids plus 2 lap babies. I had an inkling that today was going to the dogs. At SYD, The electricblue Emu bus (shuttle for the long term parking) normally disgorges the most of thecyoung kids/babies at the T2 (virgin, nostar, tiger etc) but today half the bus with lots of kids discharged at T3 (QF).
Mayhem ensued as soon as the aircraft doors closed until doors opened. Not one but several kids screaming.
At T-24 there were only 2J so they must have been upgrades.
One family were asking for ipads, another wanted qantas pyjamas!!,
Toy throwing in the row behind me

Ive got 3 kids, none of my kids were feral.

Just flew Osaka-Haneda domestic on JAL. Didn't realise that baggage claim was inside the security doors until I had taken two paces out. Dang:oops:! Too late to go back. Security guard attracted the attention of a JAL ground-staffer, I passed over my bag claim ticket and was soon reunited with my bag.

First time I can think of that bag claim has been before the security doors in a domestic airport. Of course, I should have been more attentive to the signs...

I'm going SYD-OOL on Tuesday so wish me luck hopefully it has calmed down a bit

Seating.... You think you have it worked out.

3K SIN-KUL. row 7 should be a good (well not bad - it's near the front) row. Wrong row 8 on the A320 is an exit row so row 7 has no recline. Oh well it's only a 45 minute flight.

QR - 787 business row 5 window. Hey they should all the the same and the 787 windows are WONDERFUL. Alas row 5 is just in front of the wing and the structural supports mean that the one window (the other window seats have two) is a fair bit forward. At least there still was a window with reasonable views...

Happy wandering

I was in row 7 recently and found it ok. I don't recline but do you seriously contemplate reclining on such a short service? You'd barely have time to think about reclining before you'd have to put seat back up again.

Given the absence of meal service and the "short" pitch -- yes.

Never saw a 3K plane with exit row at row 8, they should be around row 12. But yes, the row in front of the exit row certainly doesn't recline.

Made a absolutely disastrous mistake .
Booked my parents into business class last June ADL-AUH via SYD with velocity points flying J class.
They had just enough points , and had never flown business class ever before so when I booked them the tickets to say they were exciting is a understatement. Spoke to them this morning, Mum was so excited , couldn't wait to have a drink in the on-board bar on the a380. I get a phone call today at 330 pm can you come pick us up from the airport we have been denied boarding! Ticket was under sue and the passport was Susan! Upon further investigation , mums velocity account is under sue and when I booked the ticket , velocity pre filled the name in and obviously used sue as that was the registrated name of the account . We never clicked looking at the ticket the whole time until they got to checkin today , and told their ticket is cancelled now. Lucky their cruise leaves in two days time and I have re-booked them on Qatar airways in Y tomorrow night. I never felt so bad , seeing how excited and then upset my parents were was terrible ! All they were talking about was this flight ! And that's how you waste 220k velocity points !!!

Oh my gosh henleybeach, that is a disappointing story for your mum & dad. And for you wanting to do something special for them.
