Love the MB icecream. Much prefer it to a Magnum or drumstick.

The Weis' bars in Y go down ok too!

I can buy all the MB ice creams at Woolies other than the one I want.....dark chocolate & orange ice cream! The buyers at WOW need their heads read.

Maggie's burnt fig and caramel - the only reason to fly QF J. Now if they would only get rid of the wasabi from the roasted almonds....

I wonder how much Maggie pays Qantas to serve her wares onboard? :!:

Product placement, in a premium cabin, on a premium carrier?... Reeks of a LCC mentality… oops that's right, I temporarily forgot who got the top job as QF CEO.

I enjoy the QF J domestic meal food, but on my last J return I decided that if Qantas offer me quince flavored ice-cream from Maggie Beer once more I'm going to ask for the whY dessert ;)

I've yet to have a Maggie Beer Ice-cream that I like, and personally would much prefer Connoisseur Ice-cream (or even a magnum / drumstick).

That said some people must like it... So what are your thoughts?

It was QF DOM J that got me hooked on her ice cream (although i'd been a fan of her Pheasant Farm Pate for many years prior).

Burned Fig Jam with Honeycomb and Caramel... om nom

And her latest? Chocolate with Salted Caramel *drool* :)

Her products are classed as premium; look at the prices of any of her stuff anywhere, and this was well before she became quasi-celebrity thanks to MasterChef and the like. They were also using her stuff in J prior to her TV exposure.

She makes excellent things. I have to get out to the Barossa to her farm some time!

Considering how long her product has been in the premium cabins, you must be refering to James Strong, it's been around well before the turn of the century/Masterchef etc.

I doubt that she pays them anything. My guess is that it's the other way around.

It makes for a relaxing bite to eat over lunch, overlooking the dam on the deck at the farm shop at the end of Pheasant Farm Road.

QF are the same as WOW, Coles & countless others - they pay people like MB to be associated with their brand.

Don't forget the quince paste with the cheese plates in J on the SPs in 98, like I said her product has been in J for a long time in one way or another, and well before most TV shows made their mark! In fact I think it was one of the first things Neil Perry put in place when he got the contract in 97, when Pâté was her forte.

I went to a funeral at her 'farm door'. I have to say it was the most unusual place for such an event.

When I was there, I saw the 'Farm Shop' and also the 'cellar' (i.e., Beer Brothers Wines and Pheasant Farm Wines), but I didn't know about someone being buried there. It doesn't do burials as far as I know. Maybe it was a wake. The original restaurant was very popular in the 1970's and 1980's with it's pheasant dinners.

Edit: Also a good excuse to go via Henschke's on the trip back to Adelaide. :D
