Malaysia Airlines Delays/Cancellations

MH129 (the 0920 hours KUL - MEL on Monday 23 October that was not airborne until 1255 hours, A333 (M-MTL) should arrive at 2304, 169 minutes behind schedule.

Tuesday 7 November sees MH123 (the overnight from KUL to SYD, A380 9M-MNC) arriving at about 1127, 32 minutes late. This is the third time in the last week that this flight has been an A380. It was also cancelled once, but an A333 on the other days. FR24 suggests that future flights will be A333s but that may be subject to change as FR24 does not always get this correct.

Wednesday 9 November 2017 sees A333 9M-MTM on MH149, the overnight KUL - MEL arriving at about 0953 hours, 68 late.

On Friday 10 November, there was an extra wait for passengers at an uncomfortable hour travelling on MH126, the 0205 hours PER - KUL. B738 9M-MXR was airborne at 0349, so resultant arrival should be at 0928, 93 minutes behind the timetable.

MH129 (0920 hours KUL - MEL that was in the sky at 1031 on Sunday 12 November with the usual A333, in this case 9M-MTH) should arrive at roughly 2106 hours, 51 minutes tardy.

On what has been a wet Thursday 16 November 2017 in Victoria, MH129, the day flight from KUL to MEL (A333 9M-MTD) should arrive 39 minutes late at 2054. Contributing to the delay was the aircraft being held between Bendigo and Heathcote (Vic.)

Sunday 19 November has MH129, the 0920 hours morning KUL - MEL that was in the sky at 1017 (A333 9M-MTC) suggested as arriving at 2050, half an hour late. There is a steady stream of aircraft on approach to MEL with many having been briefly held (if arriving from the BNE/OOL/MCY track) around Tocumwal NSW.

Due to the mid evening storms of Friday 24 November in Melbourne, MH129 was held on approach so arrival of this ex-KUL flight has become 2048 hours, 33 minutes late. 9M-MTN is the A333.

A 25 year old Sri Lankan national (who in a photo looks much older) pleaded guilty today in the Melbourne Magistrates Court to making a bomb threat on board MH128 from MEL to KUL in June 2017. This plane had to return to MEL. The chap was overpowered by others and secured with cable ties.

Allegedly he may have mental health issues. In such circumstances sometimes courts (in Victoria) can commit an individual to the Thomas Embling psychaitric facility in the Melbourne inner suburb of Fairfield.

He has been remanded in custody.

KUL - ADL redeye MH139 (A333 9M-MTI) looks to be arriving on Tuesday 16 January at 0837 hours, 42 minutes late. As the returning MH136 is not due out until 0930 hours, it should only be about half an hour late in commencing pushing back.

For most passengers from KUL such an arrival time would actually not be an issue as ADL tends to be a destination rather than a transit point?. Happy new Year M1

Thank you Quickstatus.

I am guessing that there may be a few connecting passengers for ASP and country SA airports such as MGB (not on MH!) but yes, given the airline's range of other destinations in Oz you have to be very much on the money.

Journalists must do special training so that they can always select the passenger who knows the least, but is most vocal about it.

On 1 April 2018 - seriously - MH139, the KUL - ADL redeye (A333 9M-MTL) should arrive at 0923 hours, 143 minutes late. The returning flight, 0815 hours MH136 may be able to depart from about 1040 hours.

MH129 on 3 April has 9M-MTD but like yesterday is late. This 0920 hours KUL - MEL flight took off at 1234. Arrival should be at 2208 hours, 173 minutes late. MH128, the returning flight due out at 2325 hours should be able - if all goes well - to depart at or extremely close to time.

Once again this shows a benefit of international airlines, irrespective of domicile, having long layovers timetabled, rather than just (in this case) 85 minutes to 'reverse' the aircraft. It may not be practical in every case - an airline (like QF) may want to intensively use its equipment, or there may not be slots available at one or both ends - but it helps to maintain good punctuality in situations like tonight.
