29 October 2012

Malaysia Airlines will become a full member of oneworld® with effect from Friday 1 February 2013, adding one of commercial aviation's most frequent award winners to the world's leading quality airline alliance.
Finally...great news. I visit Kul at least once a year and now I'll have access to the QF F lounge in Syd and the MH F lounge at Kul:)

QF have a F lounge at SUD??? Methinks your an autocorrection victim LOL

I am shocked, December becomes February in reality ;).

In fairness to MAS, the December date only came from some unnamed 'spokeperson' that Ausbt spoke with. The official line from MAS has always been around the turn of the year, which February fits at a stretch.

Chinese new year?

give us a chance to edit....

If I ever get a script from you that has autocorrection errors I will be worried! Now what was that thing mum mentioned about not throwing stones in glasshouses

Well, it could have been December, but....

While its alliance implementation programme is on track for completion in the coming weeks, its addition to oneworld is being held until the beginning of 2013 to avoid the end-of-year holiday season and for other administrative reasons.

Well, it could have been December, but....

Given hotels often open up years after they were meant to in Malaysia, a few months difference is nothing in perspective I suppose! I wonder if the redemptions might get a little bit less heavy with the taxes and fuel fines for MH, maybe I am dreaming!

The difference between end of the year 31 Dec and Feb, is only 32 days. So not much of a delay.

Interesting take on the MH-OW tie up as well as they and airberlin dallying with Scary Team members. I can see a lot of joy for MH in the tie up, but not a lot for QF in it at the moment.

Meanwhile I was rather looking forward to a February DEL-KUL-BNE-KUL-DEL flight - to book on MH at a very reasonable price for a J ticket which I priced yesterday. Went to compare today's price and I find their booking engine telling me this
Malaysia Airlines Internet booking engine maintenance

Our Internet booking facility will be undergoing maintenance work. Following this, our Internet booking engine, Enrich online redemption and MHdirect services will not be available from:

7.00pm 29 Oct 2012 to 3.00am, 30 Oct 2012 (Malaysia time, GMT +8)

Are they in the process of jacking up the prices I wonder:confused:?

Cheers skip

PS. For the time being, flymas.mobi is still up and quoting the same price as yesterday.

Would be very nice getting a bargain with a visit to the WP premium lounge and being whisked to the gate at KUL in a buggy as well...

And how concrete is 1 February 2013?

I have some not so suitable flights on a 737 to book for mid-February travel but I do not want to spend that much on MH flights unless they are definitely in Oneworld. If I wait until February 2013 to book then flights will be very expensive and if they don't join then other flights are going to be just as expensive. Decisions, decisions....

Anyone have any guesses when MH flights will be loaded to the oneworld booking engine? Or when the xONEx and other circle itinerary rules will be updated to include MH ?

Can we start talking about/figuring out nice little status runs, or is it too early?

By my calculations BKK-KUL-HKG return in J, plugging in some random dates next March, equals THB 28,635 (about $900), which should be about 280 SC (BKK-KUL = 60SC & KUL-HKG = 80SC)

I am sure there are better ones out there however.

Thats about 2X what you pay with CX for similar SC

Now we have a date, what do people think my chances are for getting my SIN-NRT vv (J) flights credited to QF if I fly in Jan, 1 month prior. I will probably have a SIN-LHR vv (J) flight in may, on MH as well. Should I just plug them both into enrich with a new account?

I think that any flights before the start date would not be able to be credited to QFF. The flights after should be. It may be easier to credit your January flight to Enrich and then transfer the points later if that is allowed, or use them up on a domestic leg.

Sent from my iThing.
Why, because iCan.

Zero chance before the official start date.
