Have just called the Plat line, exit rows seats confirmed on my flights (P1 benefit for free, save $720 for 2 pax) anyways no issues calling up :)

Nice one! Now we wait and hope for an offer to be able to upgrade these O fares...

Hi everyone, just an update following yesterday’s glitch where mistake fares were incorrectly offered for sale by some US based online travel agents.

Apologies for the confusion. The glitch was fixed at 11:30am AEST, however I'm pleased to let you know that Qantas will honour the bookings in this case.

Happy travels!

Well what a happy ending. Quite amazing really given that in the past there has been a lot of setbacks and disappointing news.

The current share price and low price of oil certainly helps the cause for QF to turn this issue into good PR story.

I am sure that RedRoo is very happy to pass on the good news!

Qantas' customer service and public relations has been " "enhanced" " by this. Well done.

I read about the mistake fares yesterday morning and the dates would have fitted my itinerary to the US perfectly.
However on Tuesday night I booked PE fares to LAX so missed out by a whisker :(.

Oh, well, I suppose you win some and you lose some.

I noticed someone familiar in this thread yesterday. I wonder how many tickets they booked for the family! ;)

I saw that too!

It is also important to add, that this one person is the ONLY one out of possibly thousands of people who purchased tickets who has been contacted. Why would only 1 person be notified? And why would the bookings still be visible in FF accounts?

Strange no?

Perhaps they booked a flight for a next day/immediate departure and the word at the time was to hold bookings...

So around $1,500? Great value for excellent PE product, you've made a wise decision!

Excellent outcome!

A good outcome, I wouldn't say it to be fantastic though. At the end of the day it is $500 for economy flights, which is only slightly cheaper than their competitor eg NZ, and if I was Qantas I would have easily honored those fares too. The goodwill to honor them will outweigh the few hundred dollars lost in revenue, plus I bet only a few dozen tickets were ever bought. It won't break Qantas' bank, nor will the few seats lost on a 300+ seat economy cabin is going to make a difference - in all likeliness, the plane probably would have had empty seats anyway. Anyway at $500 I was tempted to fly economy, I did check orbitz quickly but nothing came up on the dates I searched so I didn't bother running around to find these. Qantas has $1150 fares to USA but even at that price, it doesn't interest me.

Hi Red Roo,

I booked some flights yesterday from Syd-> Lax they were cancelled.

Unfortunately I am unable to PM as this account is new.

Do you have another method of contacting you?

Thanks

You can PM me (or another moderator) and we will forward on to Red Roo.

I booked through FlightNetwork and then got this yesterday afternoon: "This email is to advise that we are unable to proceed with your Flight Network reservation as the quoted fare AUD XX $
is not valid and the Airlines have auto cancelled your reservations."

This was after I was able to view my booking on the Qantas site and make seat selections.

This is great news Red Roo. How do I go about getting my booking that was cancelled reinstated?

Happy to grab your details via private message. :)

Hi RedRoo, I had booked a flight using flight network and they sent me a confirmation And afterwards an email saying the quoted price was not valid, can anything be done about this?

I think that might be stretching Red Roo's ability (or desire).

Thanks Jessica.

However, as per above, seems like they were both OTA cancellations?

I wonder how QF will handle this... re-booking the customer direct is in violation of their OTA agreements.
Gunna be costly to rebook it as the OTA will want their coms/overrides etc..

It's like some newbie at QF told everyone to cancel the reservations then their boss stepped in, slapped them a few billion times and now there's a mess to clean up.

i think it depends where the error occurred. If it's one of those cached bookings... no case to answer by QF. I note one of the OTAs saying the airline has auto cancelled... well that would be likely in the event a reservation wasn't paid for (and couldn't be paid for because the fare was cached and no longer available). it doesn't necessarily mean the booking had a ticket attached and was valid, (and later cancelled by QF).

if it was a QF cancellation of a fully ticketed booking, I don't see what other option there but for QF to reinstate, and sort out whatever they need to with the OTA separately.

You would think the least Qantas could have done was offer automatic upgrades to business for all those that took the gamble?

Hi Red Roo,

Received your PM, however I can't reply to PM as my account is new.

Do you have an email address where I can forward the details, can you please PM it to me?

Thanks
