And this is why I will continue to use A1 Airport Parking. No fuss, friendly and reliable. MAP will never receive another cent from me.

Re: MEL AP-Car park that's as big as a suburb

Just booked pre-pay again - in 22:00 17/02 out 08:00 25/02 - $66.30. Experienced my very first off Airport parking experience pre XMAS - never again - LTCP at MEL if you know where to park so much cheaper now and just as easy to access - IMHO of course.

Re: MEL AP-Car park that's as big as a suburb

As noted above, the cheaper deals are indeed back for now; but note that a LARGE part of the LTCP is currently cordonned off for construction works, including the Airport drive (freeway) entrance; so finding a spot is not easy! Also, just to add to the annoyance, the bus is now dropping you off at ground level, and in the "bus" lane, not the closer general traffic lane.

Ummm, plenty of parking Friday arvo, assuming you aren't trying to park within two metres of each bus stop. And the busses are in fact dropping you at the stops as they should be.

For the moment, yes. Melbourne Airport LTCP has a habit of fluctuating, wildly. They once had a week for $69, then 10 days for $99. Then they went to the regular pricing, now they're doing pre-paid. That's all in the past few years.

Agreed. I use Busy Beaver. I parked there recently, and it was $9 more than Melbourne Airport, but I know my car is parked in a smaller lot, the staff there know me by name (I walk in and it's 'Hey Drewbles' to me), and every 5th park I get a free car wash. I don't mind waiting a few minutes at the bus pickup point for a lift, and most the drivers know me too.

It's professional, courteous and personal. I'm happy to pay a few bucks and commute a little for it.

That said, i've used most the off-site airport parks. A *lot* of them are terrible, and not all that cheap.

Also a fan of Busy Beaver. Always had good service there.

Re: MEL AP-Car park that's as big as a suburb

Nearly fell off my chair when checking prices for this Saturday (not sure I'll drive to MEL anyway, but just looking). My usual off-airport (undercover) = $18. Cheapest airport price = $39!. That is for in/out same day.

That is for outdoor LTCP, and is the cheapest available. drewbles certainly got it right when he said 'wildly fluctuating' re airport parking prices.

I said in a previous post I am prepared to live with MEL parking if the price is right, but on this occasion, "No way Jose!"

Yet last weekend the MEL LTCP was $29 and offsite parking was $40+....

Tip: On weekends, booking for 2 days is cheaper than booking for 1 day.

I've realy enjoyed reading your tips as I'm stick of the airport parking ripoff,

I generally use europcar, but have also been happy with A1
My first and only experience with the long term car park was such a disaster ( with some help from me) that I will never use them .

Parked in the MEL LTCP this morning; construction works are making parking within a short walk to the terminal much more difficult

I am very happy with Europcar: easy access just off Mickleham Road freeway exit, busses run all the time (don't think I ever waited the last 3 times I used them, bus was always there waiting for me), pricing good as well (they are never the cheapest, but I know the product is consistently good IMHO).

Re: MEL AP-Car park that's as big as a suburb

MAP very actively promoting 5 days for 40 bucks pre pay on radio.

Re: MEL AP-Car park that's as big as a suburb

I have been planning a trip round Easter and looking at the parking options; there appear to be no "specials" at all for the LTCP, not even for the "value" part (surprise surprise..); but there is quite a good special available for the undercover LTCP ($130/10 days), not much more than for the main LTCP.

Re: MEL AP-Car park that's as big as a suburb

$130 for ten days for undercover is a no brainer....

ive been using the LTCP for one day trips too, $19.90 if booked 48 hrs prior.... sure it's a little bit of a pain but it's normally $56 so the extra $36 goes a long way towards more epiqure purchases :)

+1
Good value for day trips.
