Sounds excellent munitalP - how you pulled that off I don't know. Have to agree the new menu sounds brilliant - might take a while to work out our choices.

Now if I could stretch it to Friday and/or Sunday night as well...

I'm sure all attendees are in for a fantastic evening. Munitalp has done a great job of organising, once again.

Sadly, I will be in another country enjoying a meal no less grand, however, I suspect a lot quieter. (Not that quieter is necessarily better.... I can be a little loud myself after all)

I look forward to lots of pictures and updates over the weekend.

Boss.

Updated post #1 & post #2, please check and advise of any changes.

I do not legitimately qualify for that promo.

If the OH's HH Gold status comes through in time (through Velocity Gold) we'll have HH Gold. Room is booked under his name. I've used my Complimentary Partner membership with IHG unfortunately as I had a IC Singapore stay.

We ended up booking the Hilton through lateminute.com on what looks like a wholesale rate though. Assume HH benefits / Points earn might not apply? It was cheaper than the industry rate!

How refreshingly upstanding of you Keith009! If you can still cancel the lastminute.com booking, you could try HH Best Rate Guarantee, which hopefully they'd honour and give points/stays/nights.

Advance purchase. :(
Oh well...

TBH I didn't give it that much thought as HH isn't my primary hotel program.

Benefits will still apply (well, have in my experience anyway) but you won't earn any points. You should earn a 'stay' as well, as even award nights count for that.

Guys, I am really pissed off reading this rort gold thingy. Where's the thinking? Hilton are major sponsors!!! MODS, please delete this as it is morally wrong!

Edit for clarity

I am not talking about the VA/HH match. That is a commercial decision sanctioned by both companies. I am talking about using the link to a credit card provider...

I was not inferring that Keith009 had done anything wrong. For clarity, I have previously asked for a post regarding this scam to be removed back early in the thread and it wasn't (flashware) and now it pops up again.

I am negotiating with the Hilton for the best I can get as benefits for the group as a whole, then they come into this thread to see what is potentially fraud being suggested - twice?

Where is my credibility standing with the Hilton right now?

MunitalP, not quite sure what you mean by the "wrought gold thingy". If you are, in fact, meaning the use of the instant Gold or Diamond HH status through the VA program by a number of members, then that was a commercial decision between Hilton and VA. How that relates to this weekend (other than a large number of members probably getting excellent service and some getting upgrades, free wi-fi and/or breakfast); I am still failing to see anything to delete?? Please explain with more clarity, excuse me for not being a mind reader tonight, my telepathic powers are on a night off :o

No, I think Lindsay it was the reference to the instant gold promo HH did with some OS CC's. I can't see the rort though, I suggested to Keith he may be interested and supplied a link to the thread on AFF discussing that offer and he said no, he wasn't eligible. No rort there. The only other thing mentioned was perhaps the HH BRG. I personally don't consider it a rort to make use of a published Hilton benefit.

For the record, I have no issue with my post suggesting the instant gold promo being removed as munitalP does have a very good point about H being a sponsor (I've removed my post). Whether or not rort is the appropriate word, I'm not sure. People have used a published promotion to achieve gold. Perhaps some have provided CC details which don't exist, but surely H could have avoided that by making it "after the first stay, paid for with that card" or something along those lines.........

Ah, must have missed that - but they are readily available (these offers) on other FF websites as well.

Ah, must have missed that - but they are readily available (these offers) on other FF websites as well.

But these offers are offers available to people who meet particular specific requirements, this one, this requirement is to have a credit card that is not issued in Australia therefore making it very unlikely that anyone here will have the capability to honestly accept this offer.

I would also point out that other websites are not putting in cough loads of efforts to put together an event which involves the company (Hilton) in question with this credit card offer.

There is no innuendo, there is no hearsay, there is a clear breach of honesty regarding this offer which has been published on another thread (fine - no relationship to this one) but then linked to from this thread. As I stated, I have previously asked for the first reference to be removed for this very reason. (post 32)

With the in concrete stance of the MODS over this issue I have, I am questioning my want to be involved.

I'm not sure what you mean by "major sponsor". No one has contacted me, and I have not authorised the use of the term "sponsor" to any organisation for this event. Any arrangement you have made would be in personal capacity only.

I would like to say that ADMIN and I have had a long chat and my response is at this link. Suffice to say we both appreciate each others stance

Well I'm sadened by the part I took in this. I thought directing a member to a possible solution to a raised issue (lack of status) was simply helping out a fellow AFFer who may have missed the well discussed thread. I didn't even think of the adverse nature of that link. I've sent a PM to munitalP apologising for my thoughtlessness and I'd like to do so publically here as well.

MunitalP is of course correct. Hilton has been very gracious in their offers to us AFFers attending and suggesting a potentially rortable way to achieve status is inconsiderate. I apologise to munitalP, Hilton, Keith and fellow AFFers.

I also look forward to meeting munitalP and personally thanking him for his efforts in pulling together such an outstanding evening, which I'm looking forward to immensely. I can't access the facebook page so I trust it's not too detrimental to the jovial nature this thread had taken up until last night.
