I don't know about anyone else but I am looking forward to it, as I recently turned my flexible booking into a fixed booking after the release of the menu last week.

It will be a great night to catch up with other AFF members.

Things get posted that maybe shouldn't be but they are always posted in a way that might be able to assist other members.

The Gold Coast should be a lot warmer than in Sydney, Melbourne or even Canberra at that time of the year.

I can't wait and I am looking forward to catching up with those who turn up.

Definitely looking forward to this event! Big hat tip to munitalP for his tireless organisation and liaising - having done before only a microcosm of what he's doing, I can relate to the effort involved.

Funny enough it is at the end of June - for some that means end of the financial year (whatever that amounts to - no pun intended); for me, it means an industry stakeholder report due. Needless to say, my time management is going to have to be spot on to make both commitments!

My 2 cents worth.

munitalP has put a lot of time and effort in arranging this event.

There may already be confirmed attendees who have taken advantage of "dodgy" HH status...... Who cares and who knows??

IMHO it is NO reflection on munitalP as organiser, or any other attendee.

Hilton is not so much a "sponsor", rather a supplier. They stand to benefit from around 20 - 30 room nights, PLUS a significant spend on F & B.

I'm NOT attending, however..... I urge everyone who is going along to just get on with it and enjoy what is going to be a great weekend with like minded people.

Forget the politics and just enjoy yourselves.

Boss

I would like to say that ADMIN and I have had a long chat and my response is at this link. Suffice to say we both appreciate each others stance

Yes, we did have a good chat and I am really pleased with the outcome. As munitalP correctly says we both appreciate each others position. I acknowledge and respect the 'moral high ground' munitalP has taken. While I personally don’t endorse any dodgy tricks or rorts to get Hilton status, I can't remove legitimate AFF posts.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank munitalP for the massive effort he had put in to arrange this (and many other) events. His organisational skills, dedication, and ongoing contribution to AFF is truely appreciated by all.

Indeed, let me echo others in giving a big thank you to mutinalP for his enormous personal effort in organising this event. I know it is a big task, and I am very much looking forward to what will be a great weekend.

In other news, samh004 and I had lunch at the Hilton on Saturday to sample the hospitality. They didn't know who we were. Our meals were slow coming out of the kitchen (as we dined around 2-3pm) so without being prompted they offered us a complementary glass of wine each.

Just a quick question: Does Diamond with Hilton give you a late checkout? Just looking at flights and it would be nice to have a sleep in :)

We've never actually stayed at a Hilton, lol

Lovely to see peace prevailing in the sleepy little hamlet called AFF.

I'm considering extending our stay to two nights (adding Friday) as my parents had both kids on Sat night and want to see more of them - Mrs LW is also amenable ;)

Maybe a pre dinner dinner somewhere? There's a few people in on Friday

We are now in for the Friday night, accom booked using the latest member rate of $235 (before 20% HPC discount) for a King Deluxe with a comp upgrade to Exec Floor.

We probably won't be around for dinner

Hi Lindsay. Mrs GPH has us there for Friday as well as Saturday.

a King Deluxe with a comp upgrade to Exec Floor.

You got upgraded on a booking???? (or is it hopeful thinking). ;)

We're in Friday, but probably (stress probably) won't do any formal dinner thing on Friday..........once a week is enough for this old fart! (I need all the beauty sleep I can get).

Lindsay, HSP has been known to offer breakfast in Salt..........(infinitely more desirable than the lounge IMHO).

Hi all

Interested in attending, as is +1, however possibly will be travelling out of AUS around 28 June so my status would be Bronze at this stage. Particularly given the impressive and illustrious attendee list, including TonyHancock and munitalP who I think haven't had the misfortune of meeting moi in person. Appreciate the efforts of munitalP in organising...

Unfortunately travel plans probably wont solidify until early June, but I saw the post that late starters were possible

Do have an HH membership, blue status , but would probably stop with the rellies that must not be bypassed.

Cheers skip

Part of the offer through one of the recent Macquarie Hilton PC emails, so no wishful thinking - got a print out of the offer with the reservation confirmation

Mrs LW's birthday will be 4 days prior and one of our friends on the Gold Coast has his birthday on 1/7, so we'll probably be dining with them

Now that sounds nice - get used to the layout and way around early.
