Save a guest spot for me please. I may be able to attend drinks only....

What we have done in the past is people who are just coming in for a drink only have paid the exec lounge entrance fee (usually very reduced) and anyone (usually quite a few) use their spare "spots" for in-house guests who do not have lounge access by default of being diamond or upgraded gold.

I think this system works quite well and is fair to those participating in the whole event rather than just the free drinks in the lounge portion.

BTW, it's not for me to say how swanning_it uses his spare spots and I don't mean it in anyway it could be mistaken as, I'm just pointing out what we have done successfully in the past.

I'll be there for everything but the dinner as there are currently less than 20 spots left for that and I would like to leave that open for others to enjoy.

For those who live in MEL, on the Sunday there is a 3pm JQ(i)35 from the International terminal - economy tickets are available from $65 ($73.50 if paying by an Amex & TT price beat not that effective in this case being $76). I'm happy to guest a First lounge spot.

but then again I could get the Hyatt for a rate of 350, which still overshoots my budget. I will be VA plat = Hilton Plat by then so I can guest you into the lounge!

That is fine. Stick with standard operating procedure as I would not want anyone inconvenienced because I used up a guest spot that I am not entitled to use....

I don't see why there has to be hostility. MunitalP runs very good and fair events and does a system that is fair for all. Could you not pay the lounge fee if you were to attend for drinks only?

I'm guessing (hoping) it won't be an issue but barring a miracle I will be HH Gold at the time of this event, so may need guesting if it is available. If not, I' gonna sit in my room and sulk (not really, I'll just suck it up and pay the going rate).
Conversely, I'm flying up and back on JQi and barring accidents will be QF Plat and will have a guest spot for the Flounges available.

We will be in Fiji prior to this and the airfares back on the Fri & Sat are just not viable.

I did not realise guesting would be an issue with so many Diamonds around so I asked for a guest spot.

I don't want to miss out in case it books out, but I also don't know for sure I can be there (new position shortly, have yet to negotiate all my weekends off). It *SHOULD* be okay, but I can't say for certain yet - do I book and pay a deposit or do I just wait until I am sure? Am I likely to miss out if I wait?

Really really keen not to miss this if I can. The Christmas do 2012 was amazing.

I will likely be a HH Gold by the time this event rolls around, so I can only pray that an Executive level upgrade will be granted.
