MR New Frequent Traveller Partner Redemption Rates

Now the question is, how can I get much more Amex MR miles? I already have Plat Charge, Plat Reserve and Plat Edge. I don't think I can get more bonus points .!

Sure you can. First, get a business Plat charge (free Reserve), a personal Plat charge (free Reserve), a QF Ultimate card and/or Edge. Get your spouse/partner to apply for the same. With business Plat charge, you can transfer MR between accounts ( I do this). That ought to get you plenty of bonus points. In fact, if you are earning full bonus points on all those, they will likely offer a cent, which will earn another 250k bonus points. Of course, this all depends on capability to put spend through the cards each month, and requires a lot of accounting, but it certainly makes first class travel and hotel suites a lot sweeter, too. Unless you are retired but still able to spend millions on business expenses, you will have more points than you can easily spend in a year. I manage 7 F/J tickets a year and 70-100 nights in suites, mainly courtesy of American Express, or at least, my kind suppliers which allow me to use Amex.

To give you an idea of the the energy involved, I check all my Amex accounts twice daily to mak sure they are always in order. The accounting required, costs around $8000 per year, plus all the time I put in to keep accounts in order and reading how to maximise point value. Regardless, this is peanuts compared with what is offered in return - about $70k worth of tickets plus $20k in hotels, plus the additional value of elite status in the hotel programs, either offered as a card benefit or by redemption spend.

OK. Enough! Point is, the well is as deep as your ability to spend on the cards.

With all the other airlines offering some bonus or redemption changes, does anyone know away to get points to another persons krisflyer account without
lost of points.

Hi Guys,

I just got an email from AMEX and it mentions about the bonuses etc. The way I read it, could it be the 1:1 for Asiamiles, TG and MH are only for March 2012???? See below:

Whatever your fondest travel memory, it's time to make a few more. From flights to accommodation and currency exchange, your Membership Rewards points can take care of your next trip.

During March only, your points are even more valuable when you redeem for these incredible offers[SUP]1[/SUP] from our travel partners.

We're thrilled to let you know that you can now fly with more of the world's leading airlines thanks to the recent addition of Etihad Airways to our program. To celebrate, they're giving you 20% bonus Etihad Guest Miles when you transfer your points. Plus Thai Airways International, Malaysian Airlines and Asia Miles are offering you a transfer rate of 1 Membership Rewards point for 1 airline rewards point[SUP]2[/SUP].

A whole world of new memories are waiting to be made. So if you're ready to fly, or simply want to take advantage of these bonus offers, transfer before 31 March 2012.

I already have all 3 cards: Personal Plat Charge with Free Reserve, plus the Plat Edge card.

I don't own a business so I cannot get Business Charge card. Also as a result of this I just cannot churn company expenses through those cards for points.

I use my Plat Edge card for Supermarkets and Petrol stations and everything else on Plat Charge card. Any merchants not accepting Amex I use Citibank Visa.

I guess I can only spend what I can. I don't intend to buy a new BMW on Amex Charge card .... yet.

The only thing I could think of is to get my better half getting Amex charge card with bonus points. But she is not on that range of salary yet.

Guess what guys, don't be so happy :) I called up AMEX and they say that the 1:1 for Asiamiles, MH and TG is only for the month or March only!!! :(

Hopefully someone else will ring up AMEX and check about the 1:1 redemptions... I rang up but as we know we will get different answers :)

So Thai Airways International, Malaysian Airlines and Asia Miles are 1:1 through 31 March.

What about SPG? Is this temporary or permanent?

Not sure with SPG. Hopefully AMEX can keep the 1:1 for the airlines! But I doubt it.

Without having spoken to AMEX it looks to me like the 1:1 for the airlines will be permanent. I say this only because its been adjusted on the FF Transfer page of AMEX and doesn't make any mention about a March Special. I do see the % bonuses (Ie 10% for TG and 15% for Virgin) as big flashing bonus banners. I could be wrong - hopefully I'm not.

I hope you are not wrong however I have a bad feeling that you may be :( I called up earlier and asked them 3 times. We will see when April comes around :)

Well, they do say:

Plus, for the month of March only, 1 Membership Rewards point is equal to 1 Enrich Mile

Be sure to transfer during March, when 1 Membership Rewards point is equal to 1 Royal Orchid Plus mile

Plus, during March only, 1 Membership Rewards point is equal to 1 Asia Mile

I note that at the bottom of that page it says

  • [h=2]SPG Starwood Preferred Guest [SUP]®[/SUP][/h] 1,000 MR points = 500 Starpoints (NEW transfer rate from 01 March 2012)

This seems to indicate that at least the new rate for SPG is here to stay. Fingers crossed for TG to stay as well.
