Thanx - Oh well I suppose its only about 4k.

It is a good point though! Once you are ready to cancel a card:
1. Download all the statements (if you want them) out of internet banking.
2. Wait for final points sweep.
3. Ensure you have repointed your direct debits.

I usually leave a card for a couple of months after the final time I have used it just as a sanity check :)

The cancellation letter states that points not yet transferred will not be transferred after cancellation.
Good to know for next time. I should have been more organised and planned ahead. I'll loose out on about 600 points but ah well, they're a lot less than the 75,000 I'll hopefully get from the sign-on bonus.

Sound advice, but I only have to the end of next week to cancel and re-apply again, so I'll just have to take a loss of a few points. :(

It was! Such a shame as I had a big bill waiting to be paid!

That's 2 for me and 2 for my wife, oh well

Just cancelled then. I might re-apply next Tuesday. :) They offered to waive my annual fee if I didn't cancel, but there's a lot I could do with 75,000p.
I felt a bit bad, though, as the girl on the phone seemed quite nice. I must admit that the people answering the phones at NAB have been pretty good!

I cancelled and reapplied about a week later when the 'account closed' letter arrived. I was approved for the second time and when I log in, both the old and new cards are showing. I'm hoping that the short turnaround doesn't count as 'transfering' from another card and cause an issue with getting the second bonus.

Also got the 40k velocity points for free under the rewards card.

The closed account will show for three months. This is to allow you to refer to previous statements if required.

For those who reapplied, did you need to ring up and provide the QFF number again?

When I did my 2nd time I didn't need to, but I'm just wondering because I want to make the minimum spend, get the points and cancel the missus's card before annual fee comes in. So far we've made the spend and paid off, but no points as yet after 2-3 days

Just been approved for the second time albeit given a lower credit limit (not an issue). Submitted online application just after lunch time today. Phone call from nab @1645 to check on stated salary. Approved whilst on the phone with CSR.

I have a NAB velocity platinum card through my home loan package, any one know if I will be eligible if I apply for this one?

Cancelled last Friday, applied today and just got an approval SMS with the card due in a few days. I can't believe I've only just started doing this?!?! Thanks all, Dr Ralph especially, for the advice!
