QF107 1 Aug now changed to new 3 class layout....my 1st seat is goooone........
My QF107 Aug flight was also changed recently to a 3 class and I selected 36J/K (Y+) - did have exit row seats on previous 4 class config - QF Flight change notification email this week - earlier departure & aircraft change - now A380 and 38J/K have been selected by someone else - grabbed 34A/B. Happy on one hand (A380) but disappointed on the other (loss of exit row seats from the original booking).

We booked X class award tickets on QF7 in May & managed to snag PE seats 39JK zoned whY, however after reading on AFF about the many changes of a/c resulting in reseating, decided to check our flight only to find 39JK had disappeared next to the flight details. :-|

Brought up QF seat map online & tried to select 69AB which was showing available however would not proceed with the confirmation. Called QF to sort out & they'd already reassigned us 48AB (although didn't show in MMB) which is probably why we couldn't complete the change to 69AB ourselves.

Whilst I don't think you have to develop OCD regarding checking your booking, it only takes a couple of minutes each day, then if there has been an a/c swap you get a head start on grabbing the next best available seats eg the pairs down the back of the 747.

This is one of the reasons I have the MyFlights app - it tells me if my seat changes. I haven't found another app with similar push notifications of changes.

Might save that one to favourites!

I guess most times with seat changes the system will allocate you a new seat but there have been times when people have lost a seat due to an a/c swap & not had a new seat allocated. I wonder if this app would alert you where lost your original seat but were yet to have a new one allocated?

Flew in 5B on QF 7 yesterday. Fantastic seat, heaps of storage in the side bin, quite private. From the looks of it, i would prefer this to 3E/F.

It provides numerous updates on various bits of information. I think if the seat disappeared it would notice, not that I've tested this in particular.

Interesting.
i'm about to fly in 3e, row 5 is already taken, but can't decide whether to change to row 14 upstairs.

The was a review recently for 3F; it showed it as having a storage compartment for the occupant in the console in front.

FWIW, with Skybed Mk II, exit row seats don't have that much of an advantage over the other locations in the cabin.

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

I'm not expert and my opinion does differ from the experts here, but I do prefer 14 on the upper desk over 3E....but only if I can get 14A or 14K. The reason? I like the side storage, and a place to put my iPad during meal services when I am watching movies and TV on it. These days I only fly J on a 747 about 8 times a year so others probably have more experience.

I'm on QF107 in PE Aug 9. Checked my booking this morning and my seat requests were gone, so I selected new seats (2) and the cabin layout has changed to Rows 29 & 30 (2-3-2), and 34 & 35 (2-4-2). I'm confused - does this mean 29 and 30 are J seats? I thought the refits would be finished by then, and this layout doesn't seem to fit any of the seat maps.

I selected 30JK. Just logged in again tonight and we have been moved to 30 in the centre section, but 30JK were available so I again selected them - why would we be bumped from them?

Well it is this layout for rows 29 to 35, but there is no PE shown 36 to 39.

I just checked my seating and again lost 30JK and even though I can reselect them, the final screen indicates that "your seating requests is unable to be confirmed".

Would 29 & 30 be reserved for WP and above? if so strange that I can select them.

cheers,

Al

I have had that happen when I lost PE seats zoned whY - the 39JK disappeared & because the new seats allocated to us were not visible via the QF MMB portal.

Rang QF & found out we did actually have new seats allocated & then asked res if they could cancel the 48AB & book 69AB instead which was showing available to us & was our preference for whY seating.

I don't see why you can't do the same ie call QF & ask them what seats you currently have, then ask them to cancel them & re book 30JK which are show available to you with your status. After they rebook these your new seating should appear in MMB.

I would still check a couple of times per week to ensure you still have those seats. If the a/c changes again you would then be in a good position to nab some decent seats back in the whY cabin.

Good advice thanks ozbeachbabe.

I should clarify that I have a PE ticket.

cheers,

Well, I've just endured 14 hrs in the new layout and it sucks. I was in 3e in the forward cabain and did not like it at all. There's no privacy and the cupboard across the isle is far too close so you get a bum in your face every time someone uses it.

Although j was half empty, the under provision of toilets was apparent in long queues.

In talking to the staff it seems that they recognize the problems with the layout and are taking bets as to when qf admits it screwed up.

I was on the Santiago Sydney flight and will definitely fly LAN in preference to QF next time.
I will also do my utmost to avoid the refurbished plane.

I've just changed my seat from 3E to 5J, (flying DFW-BNE in June) as the general consensus seems to favour row 5
Will try to get some pics :)

Sorry about that - got carried away with my own whY scencario.

I'll rephrase the wording:

I would still check a couple of times per week to ensure you still have those seats. If the a/c changes again you would then be in with a fighting chance to nail the best seats in the PE cabin ie either an AB or JK pair of seats rather than get stuck in the middle row of 4.
