With the caveat that I have not yet flown in this aircraft, I'd go in order 3E/F & 14A/K | 14/J/K.

With the former, no-one has to move to permit the other to access the aisle.

14 A/K would be good for a couple who are arguing

As you have found in another forum that there's crew rest behind 15A/B.

Row 14 are are indeed exit and are basically as guaranteed as most other seats - First in best dressed [But subject to change*].

A/B may have more room than J/K

Keep watching it though it may well change.

I'm on QF51 the week before and it has changed twice so far in the last two months. At the moment it is scheduled to be a 4 class 747 but it may well change back to a refurbished 747.

The flight was a 4 class 744 - I was originally booked in the 1st cabin section - hopefully it doesn't change back...

My QF107, SYD-LAX, Aug 1 has changed (again) back to a 4 class 744, from a refurbished 3 class 744
4K locked in.

Was on the new 747 config just recently. Seat 5B on OEG QF108 JFK/LAX and then seat 2K on OEJ QF16 LAX/BNE (then on to MEL on domestic).

I found 5B to be a fantastic seat for the evening QF108 flight. As mentioned previously, there is a locker directly to your left in the partial space of what would have been seat 5A. The locker has about enough room to lay a computer bag flat and to store your blanket/paper etc. In front of the locker is a space (hole) which is more than big enough for a computer bag standing up, although storage is not allowed there during take-off/landing of course. Directly above the seat is a small overhead bin just big enough for a carry-on bag, which feels a little exclusive. You can easily see out the windows from the seat.

I was in seat 2K on the LAX/BNE sector but walked past 5B and 5J a bit during the night heading to the toilet etc. One thing I did notice during the first sector (when in 5B) was that the orientation of the cabin means that passengers coming out of Zone A seem to head directly towards the row 5B/J seats which is a bit of a bother. Not a huge problem during the day, but at night I wondered whether there was a high likelihood of people bumping the seat as they head rearward in the dark.

I flew QF8 on 09/06 - refurb'ed 747, sat in 5B (also OEG - I found a $1 coin down the side of the seat - is it yours pm3207?? ). QF actually tried to take 5B away from me at the last minute - got called to the desk next to the boarding gate about 90 minutes before the flight and was given a replacement BP showing 1K. When I queried why they'd changed my seat they told me I didn't have a seat allocated, which I definitely did - 5B! To their credit, after showing them the old BP with 5B on it they put me straight back in the original seat, even though it involved moving another pax who had subsequently been seated there.

All that aside: another positive vote for 5B / 5J from me - you couldn't ask for any more from a QF J seat as a solo traveller IMHO. No one next to you, direct aisle access, exit-row legroom (not that you really need it), loads of "table" and storage space to your left/right (which is really useful), an overhead locker all to yourself - and jealous looks from some of the other pax I didn't have any issues with being bumped by pax walking down the aisle either. About the only negative thing I could say about 5B / 5J - and I'm really stretching for a negative here - is that the window view isn't great, due to the fact that the seat is a fair distance away from the windows.

I also had a wander around the J cabin to try and evaluate good seats for couples. As others have mentioned 3E/F are nice and spacious with plenty of extra storage space, but they also lack privacy - with no seats in front of them they're completely exposed to the whole of the Zone A cabin. The FAs also appeared to be in the habit of using the table in front of 3E/F to rest drink trays, meal trays, etc, on, so you may get disturbed a fair bit.

Apart from 3E/F, anything on the upper deck would be nice for all the normal reasons that the upper deck is nice - and I guess the exit row seats in row 14, as previously mentioned, would be the pick of the bunch. Finally, as a bit of a wildcard option, I reckon 1A/B or 1J/K would also be a good choice for a couple - yes, they are a little more cramped, but I'd imagine that with no one in front of you plus the "shell" of the seat around you they would also feel private and exclusive. And whilst you may occasionally get disturbed by FAs accessing the cupboard in front of row 1, I reckon this would be more than offset by the lack of other pax walking past you during the flight.

One ponders whether another WP tried to take it away from you (knowing it was a good seat).

I did wonder about that - but decided that probably wasn't the case as I can't imagine QF would move a WP at another WP's request, and if a CL/WP1 had asked for it then I'd imagine I wouldn't have gotten it back?

I think maybe they had some sort of system glitch - the agent made a comment about "5B showing as empty [when they did the seat switcharoo]", and there appeared to be a quite a lot of pax getting new BPs due to seat changes (which you would think wouldn't be normal this close to departure - after most pax would have already checked in and hence would have already been assigned a seat).

Just flew upstairs in 14A SCL to SYD. Must admit I liked the upstairs ambience a lot more than downstairs (I was in 3E last time). The cabin is more airy, less cramped. The legroom in 14 is fantastic. The cabin was only half full so the toilets were not a problem. Overall I enjoyed the trip a lot more than previously.

Keep fingers crossed. Am a single traveller going to Europe and currently QF 51 on Sept. 13 as well as QF 52 on Sept. 22 show a refurbished 744 so have reserved 5J on both flights. Really looks like the perfect seat for a single traveller.

My apologies if this is the wrong place to be asking this..

I'm on QF7 next month, booked Y+ and currently seated in 36K. Is this a decent seat or should I move? Almost all of the Y+ cabin is open.

Great to have the Mark II Skybeds.
Definitely one of the best 2 seats for a solo traveller.
On the downside I did note and it was remarked on by the FA sitting opposite me in the jump seat that the reconfiguration and removal of the F toilets leads to lengthy queues.
