Mrs prozac had trouble with her card when I logged into the Westpac site and activated her card. When she went out to use it of-course it did not work. I called Black and complained. Eventually they asked about activating the card and I explained the afore mentioned process. Ah, they said Mrs prozac needs to login under her own ID to activate. I was a bit wet behind the ears not to realise that.

Update: Have spent $216 in 4 AMEX transactions on Monday - this morn login and see I have pts balance 60,428. So clearly YES I have received bonus pts - but 60K?

I applied for the SPG gold and will validate it with a KL stay soon. Once Gold status is issued does it expire 12 months later? I can only see myself using SPG a few times a year.

That's how I read the conditions. So I'll wait until my gold membership lapses and I'm planning a few stays before I activate it.

thats funny because MsKLN does NOT have any WBC accounts and doesn't have a login to complete the procedure. the branch however was able to do this for me, whereas we didn't know this was the problem with MR KLN's and once his new cards were reissued and i then activsted them it was OK

Altitude points convert 2:1 to Krisflyer, and same deal with most (or all?) other FF programs they convert to. So in effect Black Amex earns 1.5 points per $ and Black MC earns 0.625 points per $.

Is this the same for Velocity? So in effect 1.5pts/$ Velocity points?

For the existing altitude customer can not get the 4000QFF. I got black card lastweek due to upgrade from platinum, and the bank guy said that.

Have cracked it with Commonwealth over their watering down of the rewards program and am looking to switch. Altitude Black looks like a great combo.

Otherwise, can anyone recommend something similar to look at? Am drifting away from my direct sweep of everything to Qantas and looking for a program that will allow me to warehouse.

I suspect it's basic pay pre-tax, ie excluding super and bonus.

I don't know for sure, but if you go through the online application it should become clear - ie it should explain exactly what to enter in each box. You can abort the application before submitting so it won't count against you if you decide not to go ahead.

Maybe not with 'upgrade' - but I held WSQ Amex / Visa combo and applied for Altitude Black and did indeed receive bous pts.

I thought i share my positive experience with Altitude Black service centre given all the negative feedback they have been getting. I received my Black cards from Platinum Plus upgrade few months ago and I called up today to see if they can waived my annual fee this year, it was a seamless transaction, the fee was refunded in an instant and she even halved the annual fee forever if I want to stay with them. It's probably a common thing but I felt a little special when I hung up the phone .

What reason did you give for the fee to be waived? I can't think what I'd say other than not wanting to pay it.

I called up before the fee was charged and tell them that I would cancel the card otherwise and after the fee was charged I spoke to them asking if they can do it. If you have been offered this before, it will be very unlikely that you will get it.

Thanks for the response. I wouldn't be prepared to cancel my card if they said no so I won't try that - particularly as I pestered them to change me to the Black card for the same fee.

Got my Westpac Altitude Platinum Cards upgraded for free last week. New cards arrived in the mail with a letter that said 'It gives me great pleasure to send you this exclusive invitation to upgrade your existing card to our premium card, Altitude Black. We'd like to offer you you Altitude Black, at no additional cost to you, meaning no change to your existing annual card fee...' For me this means zero beacuse my previous card was zero fee linked with my home loan package. Has anyone else been offered a similar upgrade to Altitude Black?
