New Amex statement credits

Just a quick question on the Hilton offer. Ive got a total of 4 cards with this offer which id like to use for a 4 night stay. It's easy enough to book each individual night on a different card, but the T&C state that you must pay when checking out (in order to get the $150 credit). and that...

  • Gift Card purchases and pre-paid online bookings are excluded."
There are some rooms where its an early bird rate with no cancellation - which do require prepayment. Surely amex can't tell the difference as long as its a 'hilton purchase'?

Has anyone tried to split up the bill on multiple cards on the way out?

Many Thanks for the help.

I cannot answer your question in relation to whether the bill can be split up on multiple cards and the following statement relates to the Accor offer, however I would assume that Hilton is the same. Yesterday, I used my Platinum Edge for a Pullman booking for early December, choosing the 40% off rate (promo expires today, I think). This rate required prepayment in full but one minute after finalising the booking, I had a thank you email from Amex for a $100 credit so yes, Amex will struggle to confirm advance payment vs payment on check out.

Thanks for that, seems like a good enough risk. :)

:D Can confirm the email was correct!
I think I did as well but I'm confused as the refund is processed as Qantas Airways (E) and I'm struggling to work out if that's the rebate or Qantas refunding some booking they have cancelled.

Same detail for my refund.

Looks like they've fixed the 20% math :( Just racked up another three flight for a total >$2,500 ... this just popped in my in-box

Thank you for using Amex Offers with your Card ending xx_XX. If your purchase meets the offer terms, you will receive a 20% of the total spend back as a credit to your Card Account once and up to a maximum of $200. Credits usually take 5 days to appear on your account upon completion of your qualifying transaction, but may take up to 90 days after the offer has ended.

I had a $420 bill in Sofitel last week and the cashier had no issue splitting the bill over two credit card, however she said the name of the card has to match the name of the guest.

Dont you have 5 supplementary cards in your own name?

Buy $60 of fuel, twice. The 16% discount is going to more than make up for the possibility that BP might be more expensive than your usual petrol station.

Sorry, no my point was that it's $60 in one transaction, which unless i'm running on empty and then filling every travel mug I own with petrol, I can't hit. If I can buy a gift card then I'm sweet.

and as I was passing the gc stand in W yesterday I saw (for the first time I recall) Accor gcs added to the range.

No, no need for any within Australia stays at the moment. Value of gc was either $100 or $200 with no 'activation' fee - so with a discounted W gc...

Yes and sometimes Wollies run promos where you can buy Accor gift cards at 10% off :)
