New Amex statement credits

Purchased a $500 Visa gift card today at Harvey Norman. Received Amex email almost immediately.

As the transaction was going through it suddenly clicked that I shouod have bought a $1000 Visa gift card as the $5.95 fee is the same for all denominations.

First time I have seen Visa gift card at a Harvey Norman for a long time. I thought about grabbing 3-4 for next time as expiry is 8/18.

I'm new to this amex and Harvey Norman deal and vpay

So these visa cards are to be loaded with a nominated account plus a 5.95 fee. Similar to the visa1 cards?

Would the best return is to load with the max of $1000. Buy a second card and try to buy in 350 multiples assuming you have multiple amex cards. So that you minimise the $5.95?
That is if hn allow you to pay in multiple cards?

Similar to Visa One but you have 7-8 amounts you can choose for these Visa gift cards. For me the best value would have been $1000 as I only have a low earning Visa credit card (0.5 points/$) and no points earning Mastercard.

If not possible to split transactions between cards then I guess $500 + $5.95 would be best option.

Just in case there is any doubt. I can confirm cash back received for Vpays purchased last week at Harvey Norman.

Just made my insurance payment at NRMA York St Sydney. Other branch has closed. Wouldn't let me split payment so will need to spend my $100 GCs on something else ... first world problems.

I got the cash back offer on my Explorer card but not my Plat charge. Is it normal for amex to limit the relevant card?

Sorry to sound like a amateur but so the Vpays are not avaialble. Now there just the prepaid visa that I need to buy to get the best roi to utilize the statement credi

It isn't necessarily 'normal' but some offers do not appear on all cards. Sometimes you can use a manual registration link to register the card that missed out, other times the offer is targetted and there is nothing that you can do.

VPay where available are OK but you can probably get the best return on investment by purchasing the prepaid Visa gift card for $1000 + $5.95 fee. Not all stores have prepaid Visa gift cards. Not all stores have VPay. Some stores have neither. Some stores have both.

Dr ralph
You are my most number of amex cards god;)

I have a few amex cards and am signing up for the Harvey Norman offer. But I have to manually enter.
Does it matter if you use the same email address?? I simply don't have enough!

I've been using the same email address for the manual links. Makes life easier - particularly in tracking the confirmation emails.
Is the manual link still active?

I have been using a single email address log in amex connect for all 12 Amex in my household inc the one with my name and my partner name since last year without any problem , only complain so far is it take time to register any single offer to all 12 cards that you need to manually switch card

Anybody manage to get prepaid credit from Harvey Norman Fyshwick? Was just there and got the general response whatever cards we have are on the stand .

What do you mean by manual link ? I got my explorer yesterday . However on loggin in there are zero offers and it's the same when I log in to Amex connect and redirect to my Amex account . Is there

Anything I can do . Have emailed them already .

Not everyone gets offers directly sent to them or the same offers sent to them. If the offer is a general one a manual link may be available to sign up if you didn't receive the offer directly.

If available manual links are often posted in this thread.

A number of the Harvey Norman stores I have visited have stopped selling Vpay. Instead they are selling these:

Mygift2u - Prepaid VISA cards

A few points to note:

1) Like Vpay cards they can only be loaded for fixed denominations (and $350 is NOT one of these denominations - but $500 is as is $200 and $150).
2) Unlike Vpay these are physical cards, so can be used in store as well as online. They seem to be like the VISA Only 1 cards that many will be familiar with from prior Woolworths promotions. Note there is no PIN with these cards.
3) Stock levels of these cards at the stores I have visited have been very low (average was 6 cards per store).
4) Fee for these new cards is $5.95 per card. Vpay was $5.50 per card.
5) You cannot use these new VISA gift cards to top up Coles Reloadable Mastercards.

Is there any reason why the Vpay or Mygift2u (virtual) visa cards could not be used to purchase wish cards?

You can use either of these cards online to purchase WISH cards. I have used Vpay for this purchase before.

You can't use Vpay in store as there is no card to use.

Mygift2U is NOT a virtual card. It is a real card. You can use it in store but have to sign for the purchase as there is no signature.
