New Amex statement credits

Right found a store with physical card. $500 max limit to load was told and they want name number and not sure if address to purchase..... WTF?

I received an offer on my new explorer to receive $10 cash back when a min of $30 was spent anywhere via mobile wallet .
Also spend $50 and receive $20 back via Dimmi Amex offer

I received this with the Explorer when I first got the card as well, it is stackable on a physical purchase - I grabbed something for $32- during the shop small promotion and received 2 x $10 credits

Saw this today at the Harvey Norman I visited.

I assume it's just bluff from Harvey Norman (potentially limited to the store that I visited), but is there any chance that AMEX have updated their payment systems to be able to differentiate transactions?

I simply don't get why certain stores are willy nilly just changing rules when the head office and Amex have done the deal and made it profitable

This is similar (possibly identical) to the one I saw in Balgowlah I mentioned a few posts back.
I'll see if I can test the waters

I wasn't stopped from purchasing the vpays. Just told that they were excluded from the AMEX offer and referred to the sign. I played dumb and told them I didn't care about that and purchased 6 more vpays.

No signs, no request for ID and no attitude at my local- the cashier recognised me and asked if I wanted the same value as the last ones. Email from Amex instantly, credits posting as expected

I saw the same sign at all the HN stores I visited. Sign is meant to put you off. I got my credits.
I said the same thing - didn't care about the offer and just wanted to buy some of the cards. Put 5 on the one card and that disarmed them I think - looked like I wasn't trying to take the Mickey out of the offer. Way I see it, the $50 rebate helps to find the issue fee and have some visas I can use post July MC/Visa devaluations which were actually paid for with an Amex.

Glad to hear its still going. Disappointingly HN Belrose tracks the merchant as a Domayne (its a franchise within the store)

Profitable for who? Harvey Norman? By purchasing vPay cards and Visa Gift cards where Harvey Norman makes ~$5.95 on transaction and pays out $50. Yep very profitable. I can see why Harvey Norman want to continue with the promotion.

I'm very surprised this promotion came back after last year's debacle.

I think the whole VPay/GC crew is only a minority of users anyway and I'm sure there's enough fat in most things they sell to counter any losses incurred by the GC buyers. I've only recently discovered telling them I'm not paying with GO Money or whatever that revolving LOC instantly knocks off 10% on my purchase.

They've probably tweaked the amount to make it more difficult to get GC but trying not to put off customers that's buying actual products.
