New Amex statement credits

Saw this today at the Harvey Norman I visited.

I assume it's just bluff from Harvey Norman (potentially limited to the store that I visited), but is there any chance that AMEX have updated their payment systems to be able to differentiate transactions?

One HN I visited during last years promotion had an almost identical sign - they let me purchase the VPay cards and the credits came through fine. I reckon the signs might be a little creative license taken by the individual HN stores, rather than an official policy.

Well after being told $800max from a store in QLD FOR gift card. Got to till asked $1000..... Stopped going thru, checked and told epay have $1000 on system but max stores allowing is $500..... Just can't by pass.
Shown small sign on counter saying amex/visa card exempt.
Took 1 then as could not see on this site anyone purchased $1000 got another $500...... Will let u know if get credit. Told ALL HN linked to system not sure if national?

Seems it was all a lie. $50 credit received today for Vpay purchase made last Thursday (18/5)

this is what I hate about these sorts of situations, really do

why does it have to be so confusing and contradictory,

if you dont want people using a promo, dont offer it in the first place

They can do whatever they want. and/or say whatever they want, look at the CEO Gerry Harvey he says cough about level playing field and aussie battlers etc etc...

Just continue on as if you dont know anything or care about the promo, tbh these cards are good to buy and pay for things online anyways. ;)

They want people to purchase actual goods. Just there's not enough info in the system to actually exclude cards....

Perfectly understandable

Coles wool worths. Kogan dicksmith etc all say 10% off excluding gift cards and apple for example
That's perfectly fine.
It's not the first time Harvey Norman have done this promo.
Why not include it?

Just bought some more Vpays from Harvey Norman. Cashier pointed to the sign I uploaded before and I restrained myself from laughing. I did said I don't care about that. They processed the transaction, but said they were required to warn me that I wouldn't get the cash back. Email confirmation within 5 mins. Clearly they don't know how the system works at all.

I wonder if htye think theyve got one over you, and are laughing at you once you leave

I'm a little lost with the Vpay cards from HN... can you actually load $350 on a Vpay card? Or even better $700 split between 2 Amex cards?

$300 is the max. So buy $300 + $50 or some other combination to get to $350 for one card. They don't have to be in the same transaction.

are you sure they dont have to be in the same transaction???

Suggest you read the terms of the offer to satisfy your own surety:

'Save the offer to your eligible Card and spend $350 or more, in one or more transactions, online or in-store at Harvey Norman by 04/07/2017 to receive one $50 credit. Limited to the first 50,000 Cards to save the offer. '
