New Amex statement credits

Very disappointing that Harvey Norman is blocking people from buying gift cards to use outside of Harvey Norman stores.

Very disappointing that Harvey Norman is blocking people from buying gift cards to use outside of Harvey Norman stores.

Why? It is excluded in the terms of the offer. The only difference and other promos is that they are enforcing the terms.

In my business I certainly would not supply what I have not offered.

I go hard at all promos, but I fail to see why people get upset at not getting what has not actually been offered.

If there is a loophole great, but if a company plugs that loophole why all the angst???

I get that HN want to block all other GCs but it's disappointing they also block their own GCs.
Guess they really don't want anyone to purchase Apple products using this offer.

I can't speak for this round, but previously they didn't really exclude Apple products....

True. Hope someone will be able to confirm cashback on Apple using the current offer.
iPhone X price looks ok using multiple Amex cards plus GST refund at airport.

The thing is, they're excluding ALL amex cardholders - not just people who have taken up the offer.

So anyone wanting to buy a HN gift card for say that gift giving day next month, and are refused (who have absolutely no idea about the offer) will just say see you later and go to a rival store.

Regardless I hope I can get these statement HN credits. It will be the number one preference credits for 2017 for me

Is there any way to know (in store or at home) if the merchant is with the Shop Small program? I find the AMEX map woeful to use and doesn't always show me the stores that are participating in the program.
I've seen some stores with a sticker on their window.

Thanks for the Hertz link, will be very useful.

The WW offer is general or need to sign up?

Not sure. But I can't seem to see a link for it.

It was on about 80% of my cards.

Well, the idea of the promotion was to spend in Harvey Norman stores....
Is that right? I thought the promotion was there for people with 24 cards to withdraw cash to pay for their trips to BKK.

As one who usually buys these Visa gift cards outside these promotions I now need to find a new vendor unless I wait until 01/01/2018. Very disappointing indeed.

I bought an iPhone SE for $399 + postage. Got the statement credit the next day. The terms and conditions are not enforceable on Amex's side, but I agree with lovetravellingoz - there's no point getting butthurt about Harveys explicitly enforcing a ban on gift card purchases using the deal.

HNs seem to want to block everything!

Just put through two online orders for some taps and bathroom gear for a reno I'm doing Orders were about $420 each.

Got an email a few hours later stating "
Thanks for placing your order with us. However after careful review, we have decided to not accept your order. We apologise for any inconvenience."

Wow! it looks like the lunatics have taken over the asylum now. So didn't you advise them of your Harvey Norman accredited customer number? You just can't buy stuff willy nilly you know. You must be approved first.

What a joke. You are actually buying goods from them.
