New Amex statement credits

I've used online chat. Received several 'goodwill' credits from AMEX about a week later and it didn't use up one of the 5 smallshop purchases on that card.

Chat is currently offline but I'll keep trying, thanks. Id kept a few credits on that card to shop there specifically, and I wasnt going to walk away from the purchase as I shop there regularly and their meat is fantastic.

Online chat's availability comes and goes in my experience. Not sure if it's time or day dependent. I last used it about 2 weeks ago.

I find after hours Philipinos to be useless.
But business hours you get an aussie who has common sense and will do their best within their capabilities

I went to a shop that was on the shop small list. They had a 'we don't take amex' sign on the counter. If that wasn't enough of a deterrent they also stuck a 'no amex' sticker both on the top and bottom of their eftpos machine. I tapped my amex card anyway without saying anything and it went through fine and I got an email for the $10 credit as I walked out of the shop.

This store has actually stopped taking Amex in the last week due to the cost.

Here's a new one. My local butcher was on the shop small map and has always taken amex. I even shopped there earlier in the month and received a credit. Went in today to make a purchase to snag one last credit and they no longer take Amex So i put the purchase on my Mastercard, but would love to chase Amex for the credit anyway. How do I go about that given the Contact Form posted up thread wont let you submit if its an Amex issued card?

You cant, they take your card to the terminal and not vice versa. I believe the guy, he certainly knows his stuff in regards to FF points, and Amex has never been an issue before. He said Amex wouldnt come to the party in terms of fees so they let it go.

Ah, one of them - businesses who take your card.
I thought these days they try to stop that in order for security and transparency. Skimming and all.

Really? We have 8 cards and finished our 40 transactions around 10 days ago.

I've still got a couple spare but I'm not spending for the heck of it. Just hoping to make a last stop at a nursery on my way home to grab a voucher.

We've tried to stock up on things, like lots of good meat for the freezer, vouchers for some food places we like etc.

We did the same. Stocked up on some meats.
Went to a few cafes that had it
Bottle shop was a winner for us.
Got beers for virtually half price

I only have one card and this is my first swing at shop small (never had a CC before AMEX graciously granted me an Explorer). So only five chances. Unfortunately I fell rather ill for several weeks of this month, but the prescriptions hurt a little less as many pharmacies are a part of shop small, which saved me some money. Otherwise, a visit to a local pub for dinner, burgers with a friend and a little over-indulgence at a local takeaway one night for me. Tried a few places I otherwise wouldn't have, so I guess the promo works.
