Loopholes. It seems that your are unfamiliar with this term in a FF and Flying context.

Incorrect but thanks for playing ;)

The context I'm referring to is a direct contradiction of T&Cs without an apparent basis. By definition, a loophole has a basis ... otherwise it'd just be a hole :)

Typically, the basis is an ambiguity (such as a contradiction between T&Cs), an omission, a failure to address certain circumstances or new circumstances that have arisen since the T&Cs were originally created. In the case of gift vouchers, it's the inability of electronic systems to enforce the T&Cs.

In this case, it would appear to be something offered by phone agents in direction contradiction of the T&Cs but with no technicalities, interweb hacking or Jedi mind tricks involved. (Of course if there is a basis, that would be interesting and useful to know.)

This is an issue for a business as it either means they're willing to do something that they explicitly state they do not (meaning foregone revenue opportunities plus potential customer discontent), or otherwise (and more concerning), that call centre staff are knowingly breaching T&Cs that the business wishes to be upheld.

Inherently, phone agents (especially outsourced ones) should refer to T&Cs. The previous time I called to enquire about gift vouchers, the agent did read through the T&Cs - and since at that time the $2 clause was omitted from gift vouchers, I got my $1 residual value voucher through that loophole :)

Anyhow, today I called to casually enquire and was told (by the premium line) that gift vouchers can be combined - but the phone service fee would apply. Of course there's always HUACA.

In this case it’s better to explain the agent that because it can’t be done online the service fee should be waved. Some junior agents may not be aware of that. HUACA is always an option but after already going through the booking process I rather ask to speak with supervisor to save time.

This “rule” is not exclusive to QF, other airlines also have it and it’s always important to double check the charges after making phone booking. Last week I made booking using AS miles over the phone because it was not possible online. Once getting the comformation email I’ve noticed they charged $US15 service fee. Called back, explained the issue, no argument, they apologised and proceeded a refund.

Anyone able to confirm (or otherwise) that the Rydges Offer holds for pre-paid bookings made within the promo period, but the stay is outside the promo period?

There look to be some new offers this morning - including a Vinomofo spend $100 get $30

Jax Tyres - 400 / 100
Accent Footwear - 70 / 20
Net-a-Porter - 650 / 100
Plush 500 / 120
Mr Porter - 300 pound sterling / 80 Aussie dollars back

Yes you read the Mr Porter offer correctly!

New Momentum offer. Well that is handy as I have just switched to them for my gas (Tango for electricity). Momentum spend $50 get $25 back. So that will be a quick $400 earnt ;)

Disappointing offers, I won’t be taking any of them up.
I think the days of very generous offers are over. I'd expect some fair to good offers to continue but be less frequent than in past years.

The value of the Charge card starts to become questionable without some good offers as even with the 2 travel credits ($400 with free Reserve CC in addition to $300), the net annual fee is still $500.

Perhaps, but in the last decade Amex have had their most generous promos either for points or cashback in the lead up to Xmas and so I would be interested in why you believe that they wlil this year abandon this long followed marketing strategy now.
