Thanks...I also had just found the above manual link and just registered our Amex cards...is it possible to split Amex payments on the Qf website?...or is it better to buy the QF vouchers at $700 increments and then use them to book flights?

Full Ts and Cs here:
http://www.qantas.com.au/agents/dyn/qf/info/201512/1200

Note what it says below, but in practice...does buying Qf gift cards with your Amex trigger the cash back?
9. Gift Card, Hotel, Cars, Activities and package purchases are excluded.

Qantas t&c says it could be used at a travel agent. How would amex then know what exact purchase was (whether it included a QF flight number)?

I guess the question becomes could you just buy something completely unrelated from any major travel agent?

Amex get a PNR for the booking made on the CC as part of the information sent to them by QF. I have seen my PNR come up on some statements in the past. As the QF gift vouchers create a PNR (which is linked to QF), I assume this is how they may get through the system and other non airfare related purchases will be stopped. How they determine if you are on the EK codeshare flight instead of QF metal, I do not know.

I am going to bite and spend the $700 and see what happens....

Me and +1 ended up with $530 of credits from 28 shops over 6 cards. It wasn't that hard, I didn't start until the 10th!.
You've done very well.

It's not that easy to achieve when you don't eat out. I struggled to get 10 transactions from pharmacies and petrol stations.

Now someone mentions pharmacies!!!

All those cold & flu tablets I could have bought for half price. Next year then.

Chocs, petrol and F&V were the extent this year.

Gday

Still waiting for one last credit for a purchase on Sunday but once that hits my wife and i will have 70 credits from 7 cards.

Giddyup!

Made some good discoveries of eating places too.

Pele.

And I thought I did well by getting $270 from four cards... have to up my game next year!

38 credits from 4 cards (10,10,10,8) which was a huge improvement on last year's outcome of a mere 12 credits across 3 cards. I will be targeting 100% credits next November. YTD Amex credits total $925 so hoping to break through to 4 figures by year's end.:)

Be careful where you buy the various medicines.

I can buy 40 Panadeine extra for ~$15. Some pharmacies sell them for ~$23-$24 if not more.

Thanks for the warning.

I normally will buy the chemist's own brand of C&F. While away at an event the local chemist had 24 of the full strength (DL required) for $6.99 vs branded for $15.99 .

So many people just throw their money away...

I know what you mean. We don't eat out either and there was only one petrol station in the entire Perth metro area who was participating in Shop Small! Pharmacies were my main source of credits, but I made sure I either bought their specials (toilet paper, razors, tissues etc) or items such as the eye drops I use which worked out cheaper at half-price (taking into account the Shop Small credit, as I'd spend just over $20) than the lowest price I could get them elsewhere. Lakeside Joondalup shopping centre (which is now HUGE) has 3 Wizard Pharmacies and all were registered separately for Shop Small, so that was a worthwhile trip, especially as the newly revamped Target store was having it's official opening on that day and they were handing out $10 gift cards :)

I know but some of the generic medicines don't work quite well.

e.g. I am now on Proxen 1000mg sustained release daily. I have been on them for ~3 months. They are not helping. Naprosyn 1000mg sustained release used to help me when I used them sparingly. Apparently both are the exact medication produced by same company but packaged differently.

I would say it was all in the mind but my heavily swollen wrists and fingers sort of give it away.

Why don't you get someone to buy it for you, and not tell you which brand was bought to see if you getting a placebo effect?

Well the Placebo affect does on occasion result in physical symptoms.

But far more likely is that while they say the contents are identical they actually aren't. It may be something to do with what the medication is carried in or similar (i.e. the "active" ingredient is the same but other ingredients aren't), but I doubt its the packaging which is giving you the physical differences in effect.
