New Amex statement credits

I've kept my powder dry. Have only applied for three cards in the last 15 years :D I'll be ready to pounce when the time is right...

Had success with every use so far.

One had a 3% surcharge (Independent Petrol station but had petrol at 106.9 vs others nearby and further afield at 133.9+), the others were all zero.

So far got $90 back on 2 cards and more to come.

If not working properly - double check that your card has registered properly (call AMEX to find out) and also check your email address is typed in correctly.

I find the emails useful for keeping track of which card's been used where.

I've had success with every transaction on Shop Small. The emails confirming the success are usually sent before you even leave the store. I have used the deal at 2 newsagents (I have a nice stash of greeting cards now, at half price), the plant shop, takeway shop, and the local uniform shop. I registered 7 cards to the deal - we have no hope of maximizing the deal, without inventing purchases.

I scooped up the Supercheap Auto credit yesterday of a required purchase. Good timing Amex.

Likewise last week. I needed to do an oil change on the 4wd and got some spare light globes for the bike (always handy), so spread purchase over 2 cards. Waiting for credit to post as I need to return one item that will take me under the 30 mark.

Are retailers generally ok with splitting payments?

In store, generally yes. Restaurants are obviously used to this. Alternatively, if you have a number of items you can split them into wholly separate transactions

The first one needed manual intervention, but all's well that ends well. Ended up getting $546 worth of flights I needed for $386.80.

I was very happy with the outcome of this as well - my credits totaled $142.90 on about $480 worth of flights. Even better all mine posted automatically.:)

Does anyone know if the current David Jones Online offer (spend $200, get $40 credit) works with the purchase of gift cards online? Same as the Dan Murphy's one?

Thanks heaps!! :)

So I think I did quite well out of the BCF promotion (spent $150 get $50 back).

I already had $150 in BCF vouchers which I have been saving up for a new purchase
Then BCF had a 20% off all camping gear sale when I popped in on Saturday to redeem - lucky me!
So I signed up then and there for their "Club BCF" thing so I could get the discount

I ended up getting:
Oztrail Deluxe Gazebo (was $199 - down 20% in sale to) $159.20
Wanderer Gazebo tent hub - this will fit any 3x3m Gazebo (was $159 - down 20% in sale to) $127.70
1 x solid wall for the Oztrail Gazebo (was $34.99 - down 20% in sale to) $27.99

So total full price was $393, sale price was $314, less my $150 vouchers was $164 on my Amex card, then with $50 statement credit my only out of pocket cost was $114 :)

Very happy with that! And now I have a gazebo for camping and I don't even have to take a separate tent anymore if I don't want to... I can just attach the tent pod to the gazebo. I've been wanting this setup for almost a year now so I'm pleased I managed to get it all so affordably!

Shop Small finishes today. Between +1 and myself, we have 6 Amex cards...we managed to get 6x $100 cash back...alright, it was really a big effort by +1 who ran around Sydney (with my cards as well) topping up her many Opal cards by $20, multiple times....surcharges ranged from $0 to $1.00 for the $20 topup... I believe she now has 6-7 Opal cards!!....but she catches the train to / from work everyday so should use it all up in less than 12 months (I hope) :)
