New Amex statement credits

Buy gift cards first. Then use what ever you want from those gift cards to make your purchase.
So gift cards will trigger the credit? That would be awesome! I am used to gift cards not triggering bonus deals at Woolies and Coles.

I have the $20/100 credit x 2 for JB and a couple other places. I might buy a new laptop but I don't need anything else that would cost over $100. If I split the payment into 2 payments on the same Amex, will I get both sets of $20 credits? Like if it costs $800. I pay $200, then $600. I need it all on one receipt so I can claim TRS refund in Feb which will be within 60 days.
I did one $200 transaction at harvey norman and got a $40 credit.

No need to go through the hassle of gift cards for this. I purchased an item for ~$550. I asked to split the transaction. One for $200 and the second for the remainder. I used the same card for both transactions and received the $20 back twice. No email notification but the cash back posted a couple of days later.

Spend $300, get $100 back. AMEX Travel Online. Valid until 29/12/21

This is a hard one considering the limited hotels on the Amex app. Can I get $300 of hotels for free if I use my $200 credit and spend just over $300? I am thinking a couple nights in Nadi before flying out to Taveuni or Kadavu (both of which have no viable options for my budget) so Nadi is the only one. The 48 hours quarantine thing.

No, because AMEX would still see that as a $100 transaction - AMEX Travel is just a merchant like any other ultimately

I wouldn't have said the hotels are limited. I'd have said it's pretty comprehensive. In addition to that I once wanted to book Wooleen station and use a travel credit, but available online. I called up and they were still able to arrange this for me.

The hotels in Fiji outer islands are more limited on the Amex website. For Taveuni there is only a super expensive dive resort. The place I want to stay which is CFC approved is like 1/4 the cost of the dive resort. And Amex has nothing available at all on Kadavu.

But if I would have to put $300 on the credit card, not just $100 and use the credit I can't do it before the end of this month. I hope Amex repeats the deal in autumn. We are looking at sometime in May.

Apologies. I didn't realise you were saying it was limited for a given location. I took it to be a general comment.

As I said, it is always worth calling the Amex Travel service to see if they can book it for you even if not listed.

Regarding the Amex dining credit. If the online place for redemption is processed through stripe, even though card details are entered manually, will the credit still go through? It was at a participating online restaurant.
Doesn't matter. Bought a gift voucher on the Tetsuya's website and redeemed the $300 offer. At first I was a bit worried too, not receiving the "You just used your xx_ Amex Offer" email (but nowadays it happens a lot actually) and seeing it's a Stripe transaction.
