Transfer to Marriott Bonvoy now have 50% bonus points
Thanks for the heads-up. Until 30th September from what I see. Will help to get me over the next 5000 AAdvantage bonus miles for laundering MR -> Bonvoy -> AAdvantage, which has been not-so-great laundering rate for a while. The 50% bonus should bring the transfer from MR -> Bonvoy from 3:2 to 1:1. Better set a reminder to make the transfer out just before the end of September.

Probably gonna be one of the very rare times where the MR:Marriott rate will be 1:1, so it is best chance in Australia to transfer points to US Airlines. 2.25 Marriott points / 3 = 0.75 US Airline points.

So when taking into account the 50% bonus the MR:Marriott rate is effectively 1:1, as you said.
Marriott:US airlines is 3:1 so using the Amex Platinum card as as example which earns 2.25points/$ you can effectively earn US airline miles at a rate of 0.75 miles per $ spent.

or when using the Amex Platinum Edge Credit Card, then Supermarket spend results in 1 airline mile per A$ spend. Obviously the laundry rate is enhanced by the 3x bonus points for the supermarket spend. Other spending is not a great exchange rate.

Also you have to ask the question is a US airline point worth 1.5+ QF or 1.5 SQ etc to you

(+ as Amex often has transfer bonuses for Charge holders)

In the past, yes it certainly is. And its good to have some diversity in FF programs (QFF and AAdvantage in my case). So redemptions are better value in QFF and some better value in AAdvantage, depending on the routes and the "Carrier Charges" added to the cost. And variations in award availability between the programs on the same routes can also made a big difference.

Yes I definitely want to look into both AA and Alaska redemptions.
Does this assume you have points available in AA or Alaska for this purpose, or where do you transfer from? Asking for a friend who hasn't done this. ;)

I was referring to transferring points from Amex>Marriott>AA or Alaska.
One other thing is Marriott offer a bonus from transfers to Alaska of 5k bonus miles for every 60k miles transferred. Not sure if this applies to other airlines also.

Thanks for the explanation.
