New Amex statement credits

I'm a little naïve on DM gift vouchers so some noob questions:

If I buy a DM plastic or e-gift card using the current Amex offer I can use it at woolys supermarkets and petrol stations, Big W's - or maybe a BWS? (no DM's in Tassie yet)

Do any of the cash back sites work when buying DM gift vouchers?

I don't think that you can't buy plastic cards online, only e-gift cards. These can be used in store at Woolworths for sure. Not sure about BWS as I haven't tried.

The e-card can definitely be used at Woolies, and the petrol stations. I assume BWS too and probably Big W. I ran mine through cashback without an issue.

Yes to all of these. Effectively they are WISH cards.

It may vary, but this site offers 3% cashback on gift card purchases:

You CAN buy plastic physical cards online. They need to be posted, of course, and there is a charge for postage.

Remember that the Big W e-Gift card number format has changed recently so it is possible they won't work in Big W.

In NSW, you can only use an eGIFT in a Caltex with a Wooloworths shop attached. The Woolworths Caltex with a Starmart only accept plastic WISH. The Caltex with no WW logo accept neither (and often have an Amex surcharge to add insult)

It's an electronic version of a WISH Gift Card, so yes it will work at BWS and all other retailers listed at the bottom of this page: https://everydaygiftcards.com.au/gift-cards/wish-gift-cards

Of course. E-gift being the preferred option in this instance.

Excellent, thanks everyone

This is the same in QLD too.

Correct, which is why some people look to convert e-gift cards into physical cards at WW.

Ahhhh. So I can use my e-gift card to pay for a physical gift card such as a woolworths gift card valid at woolworths, caltex/woolworths, dan murphys and others! That would be great. Effectively I could use my entertainment book to buy an e-gift card (and avoid the postage charge) and then "exchange" it for a real gift card :)))))

+/or you can simply try entering the numbers at the checkout in Woolies etc under the option pay with e-giftcards.

Sometimes it works and sometimes the Big W e0giftcard doesn't.

It always works at Big W for buying other WoW gcs though.

So instead of printing out many pages of e-gift cards - I simply write down the egc number and pin # on a card that fits in my wallet. Always have it with me ready for use.

Just comes down to when you want to type in the numbers really.

I use an iPhone app called KeyRing to keep track of both my Coles and Woolies e-gift cards. As well as storing the card number and the pin, it also allows you to update gift card balance.

The real plus for Coles though, is that it reproduces a barcode that the Coles Flybuys scanner (not the normal scanner) can read (the pdf barcodes won't work for me on my phone screen at Coles). For Coles this saves you typing in a very, very, very long number, making a mistake and then having to do it again!!! ;-)

The "sometimes it works" is a concern if buying a Dan Murphy's e-gift card. Wouldn't it work 100% of the time if it works once?

Flicking through the previous pages of this thread, I note that it has been mentioned that purchases from DM online will pay 3pts/$ on the Plat Edge.

Can anybody confirm from recent experience that this is the case?

I get bonus points with my DJ Amex card.

DM's e-gift card will always work. It is the Big W e-gift cards that have had their format changed so may not work in Woolies and other non-Big W stores.

Both Wish and Dan Murphy's e-gift cards begin with 6280 so from a system perspective they are indistinguishable. So anywhere a Wish card works, a Dan Murphy's card works as well.
