New Amex statement credits

Just wanted to note I saved The Cheesecake Shop offer a while back, and then when I went to use it the store wouldn't take AMEX. Wasn't impressed and was committed to the purchase by then as I had no backup. I checked the offer terms and there was no list of either participating or non-participating stores, so I sent the head office an email complaining, and they sent me a gift card to the value of the offer.

It certainly seems that as more businesses "take" AMEX, not all locations actually participate. I know I had an issue with my local Maccas for a while, where the app would let me pay via AMEX but if I went through drive-thru my card always failed... so I suspected the manager had turned it off at the terminal?
That's pretty poor on AMEXs part, in my opinion. They shouldn't be allowing offers where not all stores accept AMEX, setting their customers up for disappointment.

I ordered online instead using my Amex and was even able to apply a discount code

Skechers is another to be careful of as not all stores participate. Very annoying when Amex point you to the T&C's after you complain the credit did not eventuate.

I made this sort of mistake, once.

Amex re-credited the amount when contacted.

So, men only car rental?
My understanding was that it was named as it committed to not using glamorous models to advertise as was the norm at the time. I expect it was more to do with "no frills" than championing women's rights

Back in the day, as I remember it, rental cars were delivered to you by those glamorous "birds"; two cars came driven by two girls, one for you (car that is), the other to drive her colleague back to the depot. Bayswater car hire decided to offer cheaper rates in return for "no birds".

Hs anyone been able to purchase UA. Credit and receive the $200 back?
I'm interested to know too. Looking to book flights originating from JFK on the AU website and in AUD. But the terms says its only for flights originating from Australia so wondering if it will still work or any other way to make it work?

I booked x HEL to Asia on CX it said must be x AUS I got the $300 credit but I booked thru AUSTRALIAN TA so maybe it won’t work on website unless they charge in aud

No but there will be a charge as Aus TA get charged to book
so yes presume if on .au charged in aud
as long as aud the system thinks it’s x oz
pm me if interested

Can easily buy coles myer gift cards from myers for use at coles or others. This is what I do when I get the myer deals and have got the credit in the past.
This is what I usually do when there's an Amex Offer at Myer, but I breezed through my local Myer yesterday and didn't see physical gift cards anywhere. I will try another time with no kids in tow when I can search more thoroughly, but does anyone know if they've stopped selling physical gift cards and/or decided to affirmatively hide them when there's an Amex Offer?

There were plenty at Chatswood in NSW last Thursday.

There has been no change.
