Interesting.

The difference between the published seatmap and what I thought was EBO on E/F is that E/F shows 58 A,B,J,K which are not on the published map.

Very.

I wonder how much tighter it will be at the back of the bus with the extra seats onboard

First J trip today (op-up) on an A330 (VH-EBN). Must say the seats are really wide - had inches either side of me and I'm not a beanpole. Given the short distance of the flight not having gate-gate IFE is a let-down and the seatbacks are not that far away.

As for the new VH-EBO I actually don't think it would be too bad in the flesh.
The IFE units take up 2" (unit and divider) so removing from 6 seats gives you 12" to play with. Thus I suspect the EBO seats will only be 2" narrower than EBJ/EBM/EBN so they will still be pretty wide. Middle seat is no different to window in climbing over someone.
And you get the benefit of gate-gate IFE.

There is only an additional 3 seats on the aircraft, with no change to seat pitch or anything by the looks of it. It seems the 1 extra seat is located in the very last row in the centre, where there used to be a little table in between (due to tapering of aircraft fuselage) and 2 extra seats where a toilet used to be at Door L3 (row 42 i think?). There are still three toilets in that area, except 2 in the centre (instead of 1) and 1 on the RHS. They have just shuffled around to maximise space without compromising seat pitch in Y.

Apparently EBP has now been delivered - not sure when it goes into revenue service.

A guy at work keeps calling these A320's. He thinks it is terrible to get the QF A320 (with the dodgy business seats) that flys to Perth (he is a platinum). I tried to correct him, but didn't have it in my heart.

I'm seriously considering telling him about T-80.

Slightly O/T here I know but according to oz-spotters the latest QF A380 VH-OQG is currently on it's delivery flight as QF6028,expected into Sydney sometime this morning.

It was this morning, I think the picture of the A380 landing at Sydney in the article gave the impression it had already happened:

Ben Sandilands has gone on a rant about this. Surely its about time for him to retire ;)

Some pretty inaccurate reporting by him but some interesting points as well.... hinting this config won't last long.

EDIT - although I do note a member of the public has straightened him out on the comment that Virgin is very consistant on their premium offering which as we know is not true given all the issues with the selling of premium Y when it simply doesn't exist.

I flew on EBP on the 24th and was underwhelmed with the J cabin.. I said so in my email to QF on my return.

The plane had that "new plane smell" too! lol! :D

In the Chairman's Lounge thread, thewinchester posted a link to this presentation. While it is just a dot point, and not really expanded in the presentation, on page 3, there is this point "Fleet – A330 and B787 transferable between brands". My understanding is that in order to do this they will be making the configs as similar as possible. For example, the JQi and the Domestic QF config of the 787 will have 3-3-3 seating in economy.

It is my assumption that the config has come about by trying to standardise configs between JQ and QF to make it easier to swap planes between the two.

Well that will be good if they pull it back to the 2-2-2 config with more legroom.

I think they may well...

Good that people are jacking up now to them, before the mystical 787 configuration is decided...

Ben S said one thing that rings true for me though, QF are very good at picking trends and exploiting them, maybe this addition will allow them to price down once Virgin relaunches in a few years, to be more attractive to the people who control the big corporate accounts....

Here's hoping that lots of people complain about the new seats...

I would feel totally ripped off, if I found myself sitting between 2 other passengers in a 2-3-2 configuration in J. That's more of a Y experience.
