New iOS and Android Apps - Bug Reports and Suggestions

Not a "bug"... the same thing happens if I do it via the normal website.

I believe this is some sort of "feature" to prevent posts which are all caps, i.e. commonly understood as shouting in forum parlance. It works similarly to the auto-censor which replaces expletives or prohibited phrases with asterisks.

With any other standard mixed-case text in the field, it works fine, e.g. I can type "QF1 DXB-LHR" here and nothing happens.

Thanks for the explanation :)

Sadly the myriad other issues eg. being logged out after typing a new post etc are not a normal feature and despite multiple attempts at fixing the App it is nowhere near as functional as the old Tapatalk one. I seriously doubt it ever will be :(

It looks to me that the Android version is more stable than for IOS. I don't have any of the problems for example the Princess Fiona mentions. Sometimes it seems not to log in the first time you touch the icon, only the second time. But this doesn't happen always. And I notice a lag in the indexing if I open wither the Win or Android straight after the other the most recently read posts appear unread. But while I don't rely on the Android App for all my AFF interactions, it now seems to work reasonably happily when I do use it.

The new update is worse than the one it replaces, now the app logs me out. ( frustrating after writing a lengthy reply) especially if done many times. The Pictures are unable to be viewed separately and are cut in half and not scaled to fit the iPhone screen.
Guys .....more coding required.

Glad that I have avoided downloading this (IOS) update.
after seroius problems just about every time the app goes through another update cycle I have learned the hard way to wait and hear of others experiences with it first.

Does it actually do anything much better than the previous version?

if not I think I will be leaving it sitting in the App store. :(

The only thing I've noticed that is better is the "mark all read" actually works on the app and is reflected correctly on the AFF website.

The like button is still a fail. It's there for awhile then "puff" it's gone. This is consistent on leaving the thread and then coming back again! Not sure if it's to do with the log on issues.

It's such a big fail with displaying pictures.

I think that quite a few of the problems with the iOS app (including not being able to post, likes not sticking, etc.) are occurring as a result of login status being temporarily lost. I'm finding that this tends to happen only after the App has been running in the background for at least 20-30 minutes.

What I've been doing to overcome this is properly closing the App, and restarting it before every new "browsing session". The vast majority of functionality seems to work properly when I do this. I realise it's a bit annoying, but it is one possible workaround until the issue is resolved.

I've been doing the same thing.

If you add someone to your ignore list the App doesn't block their posts from appearing in your feed. Might be a feature to consider adding to the next update ?

What happened with photo viewing on the app?
Before, if photos too large for the screen can tap and see them properly, now seems it's not possible anymore and photos still appear too large.

This is extremely annoying

Yep, this and the inability to post on the iOS app isn't doing any favours to my interest in AFF currently. The app is very annoying to say the least.

Bother updated all apps by mistake and hate the new app. Can't seem to downgrade, Dan someone please refer me to the post that explains how to back grade a Windows app on iPhone.
