Yes, we all impacted differently. Is the trade off you might have more availability and flexibility with J Savers on 777 and A380?

Sounds like a reasonable impact on your plans.
Absolutely the way I am looking at it - just greater flexibility with the connections also if I can utilize all 3 daily flts ex Melb.

I also don't mind doing the milk run MEL-CAN-PEK/PVG or MEL-SZN-PEK-PVG Which are about 30,000pts cheaper return but that requires an overnight in SIN - you guys understand how much a seriously big night in SIN costs?

Just an update on waitlisted J saver bookings on 380 / 77W post Apr 1.

I have 4 flts waitlisted - overnight SQ807 PEK-MEL on May 2 confirmed - dep PEK 16:45 / arr SIN 23:05 - would have been perfect for me to connect with SQ237 originally slated to dep 00:40 but SQ in their wisdom brought dep time forward to 23:50.

So after waitlisting 77W which previously was not available J saver finally gets confirmed but I am still screwed cause SQ will not permit connections <1hr.

Still awaiting response from KF supervisory team regarding 'official policy' on confirmation of waitlisted J savers for 380 / 77W post Apr 1.

revision of redemptionaward and upgrade award charts

received email on monday that announces an extension of saver awards for first and business class to more flights from 1/3/2012 for flights after 1/4/2012. more details including FAQ section on KrisFlyer website.. no redemption of saver awards for singapore airlines suites though...

Re: revision of redemptionaward and upgrade award charts

I want to go to London ex Perth going J to SIN and First to LHR next month.
Can I do it in one booking of mixed classes on the web or do I have to do it in 2 separate bookings?

Mixed class bookings haven't been possible on the website since the great 'upgrade' last year.

When i have checked a few scenarios of BNE-SIN in J, the F to Europe it works out more than an F Saver for the entire trip.

For multiple class bookings you really have to do your sums and then call the KF call centre.

Re: revision of redemptionaward and upgrade award charts

Thanks Alby for your reply on mixed classes on our "new website".
The good news is I am making points quickly.....
We need to finish off a London project so I had better go click and click tonight.

Re: revision of redemptionaward and upgrade award charts

Hey Alby, all 8 First Class seats were free on the SIN-LHR-SIN run that we chose for about 3 weeks time!

C'mon Cove! 2 commas - just go F all the way.
LOL

Re: revision of redemptionaward and upgrade award charts

Duffa there is no SQ First out of Perth!
I see you have retained the 2 commas concept....that is very good.
The connections are really excellent so no huge waiting times on our flights.
SQ is excellent for getting redemptions so close to the flying date.

Re: revision of redemptionaward and upgrade award charts

Having spent a small fortune (of points) on the latest redemption in Standard rather than Saver I can see why everyone is chasing Saver.
I have instead chased the making of points at every opportunity so I am probably more relaxed than most about burning points at the Standard level.
If I have specific dates where I need to be somewhere I just grab what is on offer.
I would hate getting stuck in Singapore for 12 hours just to get a Saver flight.
Younger, more flexible travellers would lap up a half day or more in Singapore but that is not us anymore.

How about 12 hours in The Private Room with their desserts trolley? For 12 hours, you could have a breakfast, a lunch and then dinner before departure.

Re: revision of redemptionaward and upgrade award charts

Gee Alby, how could I explain that to my cardiologist and my GP.
Hang on it's just 10 times a year......

Re: revision of redemptionaward and upgrade award charts

I have been trying not to go on longcuts rather than shortcuts but if I am already in MEL or SYD then yes that would work.

12 hours.... you could probably have a nap in TPR with that amount of time. I'm sure there'll be a quiet corner somewhere. Also perfect time to get some work done, though it may not be in TPR if they haven't fixed the computer room.

Of course, there's a way to make a little food last a long time - go slow, nibble on it! :p

(I think we've met before, cove, and from what I remember you looked very healthy, so what's all this cardiologist talk........ ;) :p)

Take the shortcut - SQ regional J is pretty good for what it is.

No one gets any F love ex-PER unless you fly EK.

AS usual Krisflyer living up to its name as being one of worst FF miles programs in the industry. Hard to get to Gold status, hard to burn and too many booking classes in Y that makes it harder to earn.

As a frequent flyer on SIA, even the flight experience not as good as it used to be. They seem to be following the A. Joyce School of Airlines managment.

Yes, it's hard to understand why people fly paid SQ. Certainly the hard product is not that great.

Even my wife, a not very frequent flyer, has mentioned to me that EK business class beats SQ hands down. I'd suggest that SQ is resting on its laurels and that won't get them anywhere.

I can go into any EK lounge and have a few nice glasses of French champagne. Can't do that with SQ as they don't provide it.

Assuming there is going to be a supply of J Savers available on the A380 ex SYD & MEL I will be giving consideration to going the long cut to Europe next time. For the same J Saver miles (+ a positioning flight BNE-SYD) I can go on the A380 for the same miles as the A330. Transiting through Sydney does add 4-5 hours to the total journey to allow for delays and the flights never quite finesse.

To be honest, If I was going on a day flight I wouldn't bother with such a detour. The new regional J is quite good too, and although I must admit to only 1 flight a while on go on the A330, but certainly the retrofitted 777 product is really quite comfortable, and wide enough.

Re: revision of redemptionaward and upgrade award charts

Spent an hour on phone with KF call centre this morn - did eventually get 2 x J saver seats changed Jun 19 - from SQ238 on 777-300 with regional fitout to SQ228 on 380 - also cuts layover in SIN from 7hrs 45mins to 2hrs 10mins - no extra pts required to change - thats a win huh?

Now to get to work on a coupla other bookins I have - KF call centre in melt down this morn.

That's win win .... better plane + shorter layover ;)

Back to the topic, I know it cost more points under the new rates BUT SQ awards are LESS than similar QF awards. Less look at SYD-SIN in J ... SQ is 46,750 after online discount whilst QF wants 60,000!
