(Slightly off-topic but I guess it's part of the new MMB) I just made a booking ADL-BKK via the website and received the nice little email from QF confirming the flight - and then almost had a heart attack! The HTML email confirmation only shows the ADL-SYD booking, it doesn't include my SYD-BKK booking.
I had to scramble to check that I was indeed booked on the connecting flight - poor important information delivery QF. Prior to this latest "enhancement" your emails showed *ALL* bookings under the booking code.
As I often just want to Forward the confirmation to my PA, this new version could confuse her as it doesn't show all the details. Yes, she can click the date for the first flight to have it entered into her calendar, but no provision for anything after that, and that date *only* enters the flight listed - not the entire booking. (Previously, it would allow for copying automatically of the entire booking.) A step backwards IMHO.
On-topic, I actually don't mind the new MMB layout, but the non-inclusion of your baggage allowance and inability to select your seat, within the flight details themselves, is *not* a step forward.
Ideally, have a summary at the top with all the important details, then split it up if you want to get more information. Lets face it, most people want to see their flight number/s, baggage allowance and the seat they have, first up; after that what they're eating/drinking (or *not* in Deathstar's case!
).
Personally, the clean, modern layout looks great, but they should have tested it on a variety of devices and browsers prior to release. I often wonder why QF don't actually ask people like us, to beta-test their redesigned webpages, just to get feedback from the people who actually use their product day-in, day-out rather than relying on the IT/web-design guys and girls, who probably don't fly as often, nor use the types of devices that many FFs actually do (e.g. netbooks). It would also ensure they iron out the bugs - not being able to do OLCI or select a flight for upgrade is a huge no-no.
I get they are making it for tablets and iPads - the navigation menu works well on my 13" Macbook (using Safari and Mavericks), but I've had problems with other sites that "stack" the layout, and that IS annoying.
QF, if you're going to be advertising a product/feature as a "wonder of flying QF", you'd better be sure it damn well works!!
