New Look QF MMB

What are everyone's thoughts?

My own: If it ain't broke.....

Bit of a shame that Seat Selection still requires all flights to be selected in a single process! #firstworldproblems

I might have a thought if I knew what MMB stands for ? It is not in the official list of AFF acronyms.

I can highly recommend the My Flights app as an excellent way to avoid MMB.

Please explain how any of those terms relate to the new MMB. Or are "Clean", "Modern", "Neat" and "Tidy" now getting relegated to the same pile as "Fairer", "Simpler" and "Enhanced"?

There is a difference between getting used to a change and putting up with it.

Well modern is to create empty space that can be filled with cross promotional upsell. That upsell is neatly arranged in regimented lines. The background is pure, clean white. And I guess the upsell with deliver a tidy profit.

I have just been using it with Internet Explorer on 20+ inch screen and I struggled.

The side bar is always there but the rest of the screen is on top at all times and makes that part of the screen hard to read.

I have been used to the old version for a while now. Perhaps I will be able to say the same thing about this version in the future.

I wonder how much of what we complain about/suggest improvement for actually gets through to the right people in QF. I wouldn't be surprised if web site complaints ever get mentioned in the office, or perhaps even read.

Like the new look, but would have thought it could correctly display appropriate bag allowance based on status already... (it doesn't).

Used the new MMB 2 days ago. I absolutely hate it! I don't think it's very user friendly at all.

I can only think of one term for the new MMB, many parts of the QF website and many other things I've been dealing with lately.

Not fit for purpose.

umm how do I book CD? I have a flight to Dubai in J and cannot see anywhere to book CD

(Slightly off-topic but I guess it's part of the new MMB) I just made a booking ADL-BKK via the website and received the nice little email from QF confirming the flight - and then almost had a heart attack! The HTML email confirmation only shows the ADL-SYD booking, it doesn't include my SYD-BKK booking.

I had to scramble to check that I was indeed booked on the connecting flight - poor important information delivery QF. Prior to this latest "enhancement" your emails showed *ALL* bookings under the booking code.

As I often just want to Forward the confirmation to my PA, this new version could confuse her as it doesn't show all the details. Yes, she can click the date for the first flight to have it entered into her calendar, but no provision for anything after that, and that date *only* enters the flight listed - not the entire booking. (Previously, it would allow for copying automatically of the entire booking.) A step backwards IMHO.

On-topic, I actually don't mind the new MMB layout, but the non-inclusion of your baggage allowance and inability to select your seat, within the flight details themselves, is *not* a step forward.

Ideally, have a summary at the top with all the important details, then split it up if you want to get more information. Lets face it, most people want to see their flight number/s, baggage allowance and the seat they have, first up; after that what they're eating/drinking (or *not* in Deathstar's case!).

Personally, the clean, modern layout looks great, but they should have tested it on a variety of devices and browsers prior to release. I often wonder why QF don't actually ask people like us, to beta-test their redesigned webpages, just to get feedback from the people who actually use their product day-in, day-out rather than relying on the IT/web-design guys and girls, who probably don't fly as often, nor use the types of devices that many FFs actually do (e.g. netbooks). It would also ensure they iron out the bugs - not being able to do OLCI or select a flight for upgrade is a huge no-no.

I get they are making it for tablets and iPads - the navigation menu works well on my 13" Macbook (using Safari and Mavericks), but I've had problems with other sites that "stack" the layout, and that IS annoying. ;)

QF, if you're going to be advertising a product/feature as a "wonder of flying QF", you'd better be sure it damn well works!!

The acronym confused me too: the page header is "Manage YOUR Booking" so I would call it MYB.

More importantly, it is not effectively customised to reflect the characteristics of the particular booking.
I have a booking in J to Singapore. It is offering me all sorts of things which aren't applicable.
First, the chance to "select your inflight meal" is offered. However, if I click on the icon, it offers me Q-Eat, airport transfers (chauffeur drive, I assume) and Dubai Connect (!) ...
... before telling me I'm not eligible for any of them!
I didn't expect Q-Eat or airport transfers - but now they've been offered and immediately denied I feel like I've missed out on something!

Second, it is trying to sell me an exit row seat for $90!
I clicked on that just to see where it took me and it is simply a link to the standard seat selection page.

Oh and while it might not be able to tell me my correct total luggage allowance including status allowance, it is keen to sell me excess baggage from "only" $122 for 5 kg!

And then of course I have to scroll down two screens (even on a full HD monitor), and click on a drop-down arror to see any actual flight information!

Back to important things. Food. The flight information says they serve breakfast but considering we land at 13:35 I hope they serve lunch as well!

You have to question whether they tested this rubbish on any actual travellers.

I have a booking in J to SIN as well. I can't see anything about meals or selecting them. I do see select an exit row seat.

I have just noticed I've lost the ability to change my bookings - it is greyed out.

That's not new. That was happening on my bookings prior to the changes this week. Also, Q-Eat becomes available a week out from the flight, so you should be able to book it if you are in J.

I have just noticed I've lost the ability to change my bookings - it is greyed out.

This is also not new and was happening to me before this week's changes. I had to ring up, and the QF staffer had to "fix something" on the booking, and after that it was ok and I was able to make changes.

It is new for this booking - I was aware of it happening on bookings that I had made changes on previously, but I haven't touched this one.

What about chauffeur drive...pre changes I was able to book it online..now I cannot. there is nothing there about it. (J flight to Dubai)

Try clicking on the "select your inflight meals" link - that's what brought up chauffeur drive and dubai connect for me.

I don't think it's a defence of the new look website to say some or of all its flaws were present on the old one.
A redesign should be an opportunity for functional improvements as well as aesthetic changes.

In any event, the irrelevant options I was referring to are now front and centre with large images.
In the place I would expect useful flight information to be!
