Ok thanks.

Funny thing I went silver first after status run flights, then the double status points arrived 12 days later so maybe Q will send me two lots tags!.

Does the new check in system feel cheap? I don't know but I kind of expect face to face, old fashion service from a full service airline....
Is the underlying reasoning, cost cutting?

Quite hard to cost cut when you need to send everyone a new card, roll out new checkin systems across all main domestic ports, update signage, advertising, and let's not forget the numbers of staff are still the same or even a little more, so there's quite a bit of money going into this.

Our priorities obviously differ.

Perhaps, but you're a long time LTG and now aiming for the same in another program, so you've obviously spent your time in a tube in the sky already :p

Was at CBR AP today for lunch with a fellow AFFer and we saw them installing the poles for check in at the entrance to the airport. Suggest it wont be too long until CBR is fully converted.

Makes sense actually with the number of people who fly in and out on day trips.

I've been following this thread loosely, and sorry if this has already been predicted before;

With all of the Qfuture developments - particularly check-in/baggage I'm surprised that it has stopped at landside. Yes there is the facility to utilise the Q chip card at the boarding gate but this uses the same amount of staff and approximately the same amount of time as those scanning their boarding pass through the machines.

Maybe Qantas is looking at moving towards the LH way of boarding domestically? I remember watching a video on it and the rep from LH said, as you would expect, that the facility is designed to facilitate speed and convenience for their business travelers - much like QF's approach to NGCI. [Possibly even electronic gates in the QF lounge]

PIC from LH supposed to be here - see LH's boarding page for a pic

With this in mind, priority boarding (a washed down version) maybe a result of this system where only QF Chip cards (PS+ / QP) work through the automatic lanes.

In terms of identification requirements - should the Govt mandate it, the system could be added to have the same functionality as Custom's smart gate system. FF passengers can provide QF with a verified biometric photo - similar one used for the passport, and the gate will take a photo and match that against the photo stored on the QF database?

I'm a tech nut so any stuff like this would be gold for me but obviously you'd hope QF would adopt working systems (ie LH + Customs) with significant tests & trials before implementing it like they did with NGCI.

Next Generation Boarding (NGB) - what do you think?

Lol, your situation sounds like mine - I went from bronze-silver-gold in space of 2 weeks and got sent both packs - gold pack arrived 2 days after silver :D

Well I'll be, if it happens I get both could give some tags to my good woman.

Stranger things have happened on eBay, someone will probably buy it. I sold an item on there one time for more than it was worth!.

Indeed... I wonder if jb747 has noticed one of these going missing:

I was looking at that.

*Puts Cheeky hat on*

I often stay at the Sofitel in Sydney, and whenever I'm having breakfast, there will be around 5-10 pilots around me. One of them always walks off without their hat. I could sooo easily pick one up. :D

I meant to write earlier, I received my bag on the same Per-Zne flight - fantasmogirical - ...phew...it was the third last one off but at east I got it!

I would say a great number of the passengers on the Newman flight would be WP...the fellow next to me (WP) in 1A was upgraded (spontaneously - or even quicker) at the gate to J.

The large number of mining WPs possibly explains why my bag was so "disadvantagely de-loaded" (with resepct to the other pssengers).

It would also is explain why there is no Business Lounge at Perth QF domestic... there are so many many FIFO WPs in WA.

My confidence using Q-tags has increased.

ciao

Whoever they are it would appear they are making a nice monthly income from selling useless items.

Now if I only I can learn how to use eBay I can sell my Platinum NGCI tags for $200 and then buy some from Qantas for $100 and sell them for $200....

Are the Platinum ones that different looking to the Silver ones? I just got my Gold ones in the mail yesterday and am hoping I will get WP this year sometime. The look of thee on eBay look the same as my Silver ones, but that coud just be the pic
Earlier in the thread (within the past 2 weeks), I posted a pic of my silver tag sitting on top of my WP tags after they arrived. The WP tags are *slightly* darker. The WP card, however, is *much* darker than the PS card.

Just received my pack and it came with a PS and QP card. The QP card has how long I've been a member as well as the expiry on it (life ;)).

Just to add too, delivered to my London address.

Sent from my Transformer TF101 using AustFreqFly App
