Don't they still have prayer rooms at Airports? ;)

Pu: Meet two birds

Two birds: meet one stone :)

I go to Church about once a month - I go to the airport once a week at the moment - I pray more on the planbne during takeoff than I do at three hours of church though - I am so bad :(

Thanks Liam! :D

Nice - Liam never congratulated me. Though then again maybe I haven't reaxched 100 yet? .. *how to check whilst posintg?*

Edit: oh my god - like over 300! i think half of that was tonight - the other half during the AFF5 lunch! :)9

i do have that knack.

Everyone keeps blaming AJ for everything. it's not like he woke up one day and decided to piss off as many passengers as he can. I'm sure if it was someone else in his position, the same cost cutting measures would be put into place.

Just remember where he came from, Aer Lingus. What did he do there? He took a full service airline that was failing, made it a profitable low cost carrier. He left. What are they doing now? They're in the process of becoming a full-service airline again.

Why the hell QF didn't put JB up to the CEO position is beyond me (keeping in mind that JB was the one who signed off on the MEL/SYD F lounges as well as the domestic J Lounges; he has customer loyalty down pat). AJ is not a natural fit for any full service carrier trying to be a 'premium' provider and attract a loyal customer base that's willing to part with cash for the experience.

Sounds like a NGCI Fail!

Not necessarily. There have been a few baggage system failures over the past year, none actually related to NGCI.

It's possible that the baggage system behind-the-scenes is down rather than NGCI. Last time it wasn't NGCI it was the bag system out back.

Gees Drew!!

Why let facts get in the way of a good QF bashing ;)

J checkin in MEL last week. 5 pieces, one without Q tag, one oversize (not the same piece).

Paper tags printed for all pieces. Applied. Oversize dropped off. Other 4 processed via usual manual process.

Result: 4 pieces (including oversize) arrived within first 20 bags (including one second out).

Final piece (NOT the oversize one) in the last 10 pieces about 10 minutes later.

Useless. Honestly, this system doesnt work so why bother.

I've only used them a couple of times and everytime my bags are in the last 20% to come out. Not saying the coloured tags were any better.
I think people are expecting way too much. Priority luggage is not likely to work if you have people (a.k.a. baggage handlers) manually loading luggage onto carousels not adhering to the rules.

My bag and golf clubs were in the first few bags from MEL-SYD last week. Generally my bags come in the first 50% more times than not but then I have also waited well over 100 bags before mine came out.

Personally I would rather better on-time performance. Take the good with the bad.

Point taken John.

But when I'm entitled to priority baggage, I expect my bags to come out first.
Especially when arriving on an international flight, and get stuck behind 400 others at customs/transfer as a result of your bag coming out at the end.

Sometimes express screening, priority checkin only gets you so far ahead.

Well still to receive my NGCI QP card-probably they know i wont use it.
SYD on thursday.Service desk roped off completely with one agent behind desk.Mrs.dr.ron walks up-told to use kiosks.says no.Agent says you can only use here if J or WP.Mrs.dr.ron flashes her card and says I'm both.So we check in the old fashioned way-we are old fashioned people. So paper tags and in BNE our bags are 1,2 and 4-first time ever on QF.
And on Monday quite a few of the bags on the carousel coming of QF22 had Q tags.

Finally I hope I'm not in church any more this year.It would mean someone has died!

Again I believe the expectation is way too high and priority baggage may well be working. By the way I have no proof to offer just my experince. And also take note that if non-status members make up 50% or more of QFFers that ratio would not be true on a lot of domestic flights as regular QFFers fly a lot more often and you may find that some flights have 60%-70% status QFFers or more.

On some of my flights SYD-BNE and vv there are at least 20+ platinums on the flight. I have asked a number of times and the airport staff have gone through the list counting. I could not even begin to guess how many Golds, Silvers or Qantas Club members are on these flights.

So I check in 2 bags most times. I know not all Platinums or status members check in bags but if some were the same then it is a very realistic possibility that my bag would come out 20th or 30th or later.

But as far as I understand there is no special treatment for Platinums over Golds, Silver or Qantas CLub members when it comes to priority luggage so if a full 767 flight SYD-MEL/BNE had 20 Platinums, 30 Golds, 40 Silver and 50 Qantas Club members and around half checked in bags than someone is going to be the 70th bag out. Assume that more than half check in bags and you get close to your bag being the 100th one out and priority baggage has still being honoured. On some flights I have counted well over 100 bags before mine has come out and there have still been many people waiting. How many checked bags on each flight?

And my example is not even taking into consideration if the baggage handlers have decided to honour our rights for priority baggage or not.

Again I believe the expectations are way too high and there may well not be any solutions required as it is already woeking as it is supposed to work. Perhaps the real solution would be to reduce the amount of status members but that is for another thread and Qantas appears to want the exact opposite.

John,

I'm only going by my experience where many times my First/Business tagged bags come out significantly after many non tagged bags, and most Y class pax have already collected bags.

My criticism isn't a situation that falls into your example.

Now with NGCI domestically it is harder to tell who is priority and who isn't. But I haven't flown with checked bags on NGCI yet so can't tell.

Did those flights have stop overs where new passengers boarded the plane? could be just the luggage of the fresh passengers that come out before yours.

Ahh no.

It's plain and simple - priority tags getting ignored. Nothing new in that for QF. Just my comments that I don't believe it's an expectation that needs adjusting.

Pax entitled to priority baggage such as status and Business/First pax with luggage tagged with priority/business/first tags, should have their luggage come out ahead of those that are not marked priority.

It's a simple proposition, it's a benefit that QF offer - therefore they should deliver it.

IMHO :)

Don't worry, Star Alliance priority baggage isn't any more solid than QF's is.
