Interesting find today! 👀👀

30 second teaser of the new Qantas boarding and disembarkation music is available on Spotify (not sure how to link it but it's searchable). Wonder when it will go live?

The only real difference I'm hearing in those previews is that the disembarkation music includes clapping. 🤷‍♂️

Can't say it's doing much for me on first impressions. Also, something tells me that this wasn't the most important thing that Qantas needed to address...

I really didn’t like the old one, and this one doesn’t wow me either.

The piano instrumental of “I Still Call Australia Home” was really good. That’s what it needs to be like, background music. These other ones are too dramatic, and when you hear them every flight for 5 years they get old very quickly.

Honestly to actual very frequent flyers you kind of drown out the boarding music as it just becomes white noise and part of the routine.

Its more for your irregular flyers or first time flyers for the airline imho as part of the experience.

Agreed for this iteration and the last iteration but whenever I hear the piano rendition of I Still Call Australia Home, it emits some sort of nationalistic pride.

It may just be me, but I'd prefer to board without music, if I need it I can put my earphones in.

This is what was sent to staff about the music.

For many of our customers and our crew, our boarding music is more than just a tune; it’s a soundtrack that conjures their cherished travel memories with Qantas – so much so that during the pandemic, we offered our signature soundtrack for free on Spotify and Apple Music following requests from Frequent Flyers.

We’ve worked again with Australian composer Haydn Walker who produced our first bespoke soundtrack in 2018, and the new piece also features Australian singer Meg Drummond.

The new track showcases a more intimate sound, with a greater focus on contemporary and folk instruments.

The full piece used onboard is 15 minutes long, continually evolving and changing throughout its runtime. As with the previous music, it will also play in headphones throughout the flight when using the IFE system.

“There’s a real magic to making music designed to inspire travel and adventure when you’re staring down at the outback or the ocean from a window at 35,000ft,” said Joel Joslin, Qantas Manager Entertainment, Aircraft and Passenger Products.

“Haydn’s music reflects the spirit of Australia – it’s timeless, it feels tangible and natural, and it conveys a sense of optimism and momentum.”

We gave an exclusive first listen to all cabin crew, who hear this music more than anyone.

Craig Walton, International Customer Service Manager loved it: “It’s just beautiful. The guitar and strings and symphony with the voices are magic. Violins always get me.  It’s upbeat then chills with the introduction of the piano. I'm looking forward to hearing this in its entirety onboard!”

Tbh I've just listened to both the tracks, and I quite like them.
