Odd they’d say that? The terminal QF uses has just been refurbished. Due to the arrival time the only other arrival is Gulf Air which usually use a narrowbody.
So basically the terminal is new and empty, immigration is a ghost town, bags end up coming out rather quickly and you get spat our right infront of the curb.
If you connect onto another airline afterwards its a very different story…
Speaking of, had QF been in 2E with AF I suppose things would be a bit different and connections would be quite a bit easier especially from LHR/MAN/DUB (also depart from 2E as non schengen) which I presume would be the greatest feeders.
That being said AF continues to have a shortage of gates for their own arrivals during the morning rush forcing them to use bus gates for some 777-300ER arrivals... EY which uses 2E and arrives around the time QF does seems to use a bus gate for their A380 even….
