New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

Well, yesterday’s PER-CDG flight had 32 pax in Y. PE less than half full but J completely full.

Today’s CDG-PER has only 3 empty seats on the whole plane though.
And that is the risk taking the flight expecting to have a whole row to yourself.

They also said CDG airport was the worst they've ever been to

Clearly, they haven't been to Cairo.

I was at CDG a few weeks ago and made an off-the-cuff remark about its concentrically confusing design. The official said it was over fifty years old. It was designed in the sixties. The French are not the Japanese of Europe.

CDG T1 may be over 50 years old - and designed back in the 60s - with its central concourse and satellite terminals but T2 (where Qantas operate) is a child of the 80s. I find the whole sprawling mess of T2 and its differing means of accessing sub-terminals airside (let's not even go to transiting!) totally confusing.

It was definitely quiet on arrival last week. The immigration e-gates were <100m from the arrival gate, and as mentioned above, we were spat out landside pretty quickly.

I didn't find CDG to be that confusing either tbh. Stayed at one of the airport hotels, found the signage to the shuttle between terminals to be pretty easy to follow, and then the signage to the appropriate hotel as well.

The AF side of things, however, was a bit of a zoo.

I managed to find the Novotel at T3 on the first go - so I surprised myself.
