New Qantas route - Perth to Paris from July 2024

The cost difference in Y between PER-CDG-PER and SYD-PER-CDG-PER-SYD is only $100, not sure if that goes up if you stop-over in PER.

For me coming home from LHR, FCO or CDG via PER works well back into SYD, outbound better to fly via SIN or US.

Having just come back from a London trip with QF9/10 I must say more Europe additions via Perth are more than welcome, the flight duration seems daunting at first but its great to be in Australia in one leap. The transcon to/from Perth is really just a short hop especially on the eastbound and clearing immigration and customers in PER is like a private terminal.

Interestingly QF will use T2A in CDG which is where BA and AA are. I thought they were working on a partnership with AF and was expecting them to be over in 2E. I did read 2E lacks gates during the morning rush, maybe its that.

I wonder if this could be easily operated from T1, since I'm assuming the SYD-PER-SYD leg would work like QF9/10

How many intl flights can PER T3 handle at the same time, wasn’t sure if only two gates were available for intl?
The lounge will be very busy!

Still no mention of QF returning to FRA!

The transit lounge is chockers before a single flight. No way can it accommodate overlap of two flights.

The new flights will operate through Qantas’ existing terminal at Perth Airport (Terminal 3), which will allow seamless connections to other domestic destinations in Australia.
Apologies I thought the OP was referring to SYD T1 which is where QF33/34 will operate from.

What a Fantastic news.
Not so long ago, we had 2 A380 on the Kangaroo route, so 6790 seats per week.

Switching one of the A380 for the 787 PER-LHR has reduced capacity by 25%, which imho engineered the commercial success of the PER-LHR route, and put lot's of pressure both on price and award seats. With this 3 times a week flight to CDG (after the Olympic Games), combined with the 3 times a week flight to FCO in season, we are almost back to the same capacity to continental Europe as previously (during peak season)

Lounge options in CDG 2A should be AA Admirals club, CX lounge and EK lounge, plus the airport lounge if QF contracts with them.
Ah, didn’t think of EK. Possibly because their new lounge doesn’t open until July 2024. Currently operating from CDG T1?

LHR as just a departure/arrival airport, at least T3 & T5, is just fine IMO. I really like T5 although the lounges are meh. T3 has great lounges but the check in / security process could be improved to be more like T5.

Immigration is a breeze and I rarely have to queue. Brilliant.

I don't get all the LHR hate. I'm assuming it's people transferring terminals which I don't tend to do (usually T5-T5 if I'm connecting).

T2A and T2C are linked and are currently closed for renos pending reopening for the Olympics

I’m not a one world flyer generally so I’m more likely to be going through T2 is fine as well. Haven’t been T3 for years but actually even prefer T2 to T5, but they feel very similar.

Are the domestic legs of QF9/10 being dropped to facilitate the Paris runs?

Looking at Expert Flyer, QF9/10 are zeroed out on the domestic legs from 14 July 2024 onwards.

The QF online booking engine also no longer brings up QF9/10 as options between Melbourne and Perth, and searches for Melbourne to London only have QF9 as a connection off a domestic A330 service.

Yes, from then there won’t be an evening 787 LAX from MEL (will revert to the daytime A380) so doesn’t make sense to continue onto MEL

Thats unfortunate as it would have meant a quasi daily intl feeder from both SYD and MEL to/from PER with QF5/33 passengers connecting to QF9 and QF10 to QF6/34. And more importantly, access to the F lounges…

QF25 daily is reverting from a 787 to an A330
Guessing Qantas must be using the 787 for other routes prior to the launch of QF33/34 as I was booked on QF25 in late May and has changed to an A330

SYD-HNL is changing from A330 to B787-9
