I really feel QF are missing a trick with no PE on their A330s. Those longish flights into India would be ideal candidates.
Given that they use this for BNE <> LAX it's not just "medium" distance. At this point though i doubt we'll see the 330s overhauled. Maybe they'll put them back onto transtasman or transcontinent after the replacement 787s start rolling in.

They really should have put PE on the A330s during the cabin refit when they updated the J seats.
Just 14 seats, 2 rows, would have been enough.
They could have sold them as Y for domestic/NZ flights with a extra legroom surcharge.

@sudoer not a big deal for us as we were used to travelling QF79/80 and 61/62. QF25/26 used to be the big old girl and we would plonk ourselves in the old F section which is no more and IMO the J seats on the A330 are better than the old F seats. We do not do that Y+ thing :p

What is JL using to SIN (or AU) at the moment?
They don't have PE on their 788, 772 or 767s, only on their 789, 773 and A350s.

For SIN: JL38/712 are the 767, JL36 is the 789 and JAL are selling W inventory.

Would there be an opportunity of "flying the SYD - PER" route as a dom pax on an int flight, I wonder.
Haven't checked.

Yes, SYD - PER only, on QF33 as a dom pax on an int flight, in J, can be had for $2796 as rev fare!

I think mentioned above (I only skimmed all posts), but from ET today:

Qantas axes Melbourne-Perth Boeing 787

Of course, anybody jetting all the way from Melbourne to London on QF9 appreciated effectively starting their journey at Melbourne in the same plane as would carry them all the way to Heathrow, some 17,000km and 23 hours away.

But that’s coming to end in mid-July 2024, when Qantas launches direct flights from Perth to Paris – the third Perth-to-Europe route after London and Rome, which like its siblings relies on the same ultra-long range Boeing 787.

I assume QF have asked IASC for 2.0 units of capacity on France Route 1.
IASC hasn't yet added such a request to their site.

Makes sense, why use the 789 for a domestic leg when it could be flying a 17+ hour flight somewhere internationally. They're based in Sydney right? Imagine there will just be a shuffle between routes to get the LHR bound ones over for any maintenance.

Thanks Rooflyer for the info.
Was meaning to give that one a try/sooner or later.
Thanks for the info.
Looks like if I want to try it now, have to do the SYD - PER and pay $27** for it.
