New QF A380 reconfiguration!!!

Our QF11 on March 31 has changed to the old configuration. Our nice seats upstairs in Y, carefully selected after endless examination of this thread, have disappeared. Sniff. Now locked out of seat selection on the Q web site. Complicated by the fact that SWMBO is on same flight on different booking and is only silver.

Am traveling on the same flight and had pre purchased 35 j/k upstairs. Called qantas after the change of aircraft and they happily allocated 66 D/E as an alternative.

Really!???!!

I've tried without success to get 66D.

Has seemed to be a mystery as to how to actually get it.

The qantas agent mentioned that they were happy to reaccommodate in light of aircraft change. Not sure if this only because we had prepurchased exits that were no longer available.

Hmmmm. Interesting.....

Row 24 (Y+)

All remains blocked on Expert Flyer and "not available" on MMB eight months out.

Are they reserved for P1 or WP?

Or would they open up come T-80 or thereafter?

Any theory ?

Further, from what I read here, seat pulling by the pax behind is an issue in Y+ so I had preselected 28D to avoid this, pending my WP in two months' time & T-80 as well to have a go at row 24.

Your thoughts please on this line of thinking: seat pulling in Y+

Last Q: once I hit WP, what's the odds of having a shadow in Y+ in long haul (SYD-LAX) ?

If there is some odds, 28A / K seats with its side bin seem attractive.

From a garden-variety SG !

Thanks for clarifying

As a WP I was automatically assigned 24A for an upcoming LAX/SYD in April

So I'd suggest that it's blocked out for WP and above.

As for a shadow, that's a tricky one in Y+ as it can be booked solid, on the other hand you get a lot of upgraders heading to J.

Best to assume that you won't have a shadow.

I will have a crack in May when I attain WP !

When flying economy and 71D or 80A/K are not available I have rang the plat line and they allocated 66D. No additional charge and no issue atall. :D must be very lucky Oh and got a shadow too

Sorry, quick question, are QF93 and 94 both reconfigured with Y upstairs?

Thanks :)

No. They are not dedicating reconfigured a/c to certain routes, so one day it may be old config the next new.

Keen to hear some feedback on leg room for 32D/G. I am 6ft and had no real issues with 51H/J/K....

I found it good, with the side storage making a nice foot rest.

Great - am I safe to assume that leg room between window and centre bulkheads are on par?

Seriously considering 32D/G over 80K just for the privacy.

I would recommend going for the window bulkheads 32A, B, J, K rather than the aisle centre D and G as the pax in D and G tend to get rammed into more often by the F&B carts.

Already taken unfortunately..... Don't suppose D/G allows the legs to be stretched out beside the bulkhead or does it cover the full length?

They do a little, unlike 32B and J. Though as mentioned there is a downside to that, that being the F&B carts.
