... also a galley area was removed to accommodate this.

It all makes Economy closer to 5A and, with the lack of galley providing less noise abatement (presuming economy noise is inferior to first noise.:p).

Can vouch for noise in 5A really spoiled the f experience and meant a really bad sleep which was the reason for points upgrade

Cold comfort, but did you consider using ear plugs?

Suddenly that Seinfeld idea of a reinforced door doesn't sound (pun intended) so bad.

That said, if pax can be heard across the divide loud enough to wake someone up during rest times, they deserve a damn good kick up the backside.

I had 35F on QF1 from SYD-LHR a week or so ago which was my first time on the new config. I had to ring up to get the seat allocated free of charge (WP1 benefit) as the system tries to charge $180 for the exit row. I wish QF would fix this so that WP1s can select exit rows on-line at no charge.

35F was a good seat, and a nice mini cabin, but the space in front of this seat gets used as a passage to the toilet so I was frequently pulling my legs in to save people climbing over them. That was a little annoying so I really wanted to try row 48 if I got the chance on the return leg, which was showing as the old config.

The return leg is QF10 LHR-MEL next week. I've been checking my booking every day to see if it changes to the new config. I had pre-selected 50C on the old config and was worried that if QF changed the plane I could end up in a standard seat 3 rows back from the front of the Y cabin. Last night it changed to the new config and I was still in 50C.

A number of posts on this thread state that row 48 is not designated as an exit row and therefore does not attract the $180 fee. I changed to 48C and up pops the page asking for my credit card details  so I rang QF, from London, to ask them to assign the seat to me at no charge. I was given the seat but told that row 48 is not designated as an exit row and their is no charge to anyone for these seats. It would be nice if the QF website knew this!

So anyway, I'm now looking forward to trying out row 48 and comparing it to row 35 on the upper deck.

I have opted for 35K on QF2/QF10 in February. I am concerned about an equipment change though.

(I agree that the website is not overly P1 friendly!) :(

Qantas will probably have to think this one through. Maybe a thicker curtain. It is sometimes a little hard to sleep in economy so I can understand if they are talking really. There will be a solution though I'm sure.

I have tried all tha A seats and you can rest assured that you can fit in all of them. My preference would be 3A or 4A or even the 3K or 4K.

Had my first ride on new configuration for the first time after many rides on the old config.
Old config > 14 flights: 90% in PE seats and rest in J.

Had PE exit row aisle and I will never pick this seat again.
Kept getting woken up by people walking by and knocking on my feet.
Heaps long queue waiting for the toilets and this was made worst by the fact that economy people were walking up to the PE/J toilets.

I gave my feedback when CSM came do greeting before departure.

Wonder what Emirate's beef is? That we have W and they don't, so that's going to send customers in a tizzy? They have an extra bar and showers and we don't? Well, I suppose we could consider cutting down the F capacity by a few seats.

Maybe it's the noise drift from front row MD Y to row 5 F. Replacing the first couple of rows of Y on the L side with a toilet might help that; or, perhaps a F bar / galley / Y self-serve large complex may work better...

Maybe it's QF's J seats...

That all said and done, it is a rumour, despite the source disseminating the "news" amongst the namesake forum. Definitely if this is a flip-flop or reconsideration then the amount of backlash on this thread is just going to explode like it was on Moruroa. Some of us were just getting used to the new config...

would welcome reconfiguration. The 'new' A380 is awful: 5A too noisy, not enough loos in J or F or any other class for that matter. Would not choose to fly on this beast
