Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Here's the wine list from QF9

The bubbles on both sectors was Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2004.
I enjoyed that and a glass or two of the PHI Chardonnay on the first sector and switched to RWT for DXB-LHR.
Galleries F has Taittinger Rosé and Prelude. View attachment 44193 CCR update coming up soon.

That's an impressive list actually. Giant Steps as well :):)

That does it, I'm going to ring Lindi in the morning, I want that truck there for our tour!
If not I might just chuck a tanty!! :D

Definitely. And while someone distracts the staff, the rest of us could zip out, grab the truck, with most on the back, and have a hoon through the vineyards.

Anyone see a flaw in that plan?

Yes. We haven't loaded all the available BP on it ;)

Ah. Good point.

OK, Buzz will divert the staff, the rest of us will form a human chain to empty out the tasting room of as much BP as we can sling on the back of the truck, THEN we rev 'er up and gun it.

Final scene is Buzz sprinting for the truck, and gets a hand up to the back as we swing round the corner on 2 wheels and make a clean get-away.

Now you've got it ;)

Rose is not usually on my radar. The odd ones I've tried have generally been too sweet - and the colour is off-putting to me, particularly when the wine disappoints.

After extolling the virtues of Marq Vermentino upthread, I decided to buy their 'special summer pack' of 3 each of Vermentino and the rose.

I'm very impressed. Everything that is said on the back label is spot-on - there's no BS with this guy. This rose has character IMO. I am seriously impressed with his wines.

Thanks JohnM. I like that label too. :) I'm partial to a Rockford Alicante Bouchet as an alternative to a Pinot Noir and must say when I serve it to guests on a warm summers afternoon, it is usually very much complimented on.

I must give it a try, RF. In Jancis Robinson et al. 'Wine Grapes' and in De Long's Wine Grapes Varietal Table (pic below, if folks are unfamiliar with it - makes a nice wall chart in my kitchen ;). AB is far L 3rd row from bottom.) it's spelt Alicante Bouschet. Parents are - wait for it - Petit Bouschet x Grenache.

It's known as Garnacha (Spanish sp. of Grenache) Tintorera in Spain. Robinson et al.'s preferred name for Grenache is actually Garnacha and it can often be mistaken for Alicante Bouschet.

Aahh, the joys of ampelography!

Rockford spell it Bouchet . Even after I've had a bottle :D

Nice chart. I see I can order it from the US, but have you seen it locally (ie in Oz)?

I too enjoy the drier rose style. Varietal Grenache is often overlooked by red drinkers. This one is straight out of my 15 degree temperature controlled cellar, essential in hot and humid Qld. That makes it about 19-20 degrees by the time it's poured. The Kays retails in the mid $20 range. S.C. Pannell make a very good Grenache but it retails around $55. Their 2012 was awarded gold at the Adelaide Wine Show.
