Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

I downloaded and read a good bit of Tyson Stelzer's Champagne guide on the way to LHR. Excellent guide so thanks for the recommendation JohnM and Daver6 amongst others :)

Rockford spell it Bouchet . Even after I've had a bottle :D

Nice chart. I see I can order it from the US, but have you seen it locally (ie in Oz)?

They had probably had a bottle before they sent the label proofs to the printer ;).

I have only seen the De Long's in the US and that's where I got mine.

[conspiratorial tone] Buzzard might tell you a story about the Barossa tour that would be of interest. [/conspiratorial tone]

Rose is not usually on my radar. The odd ones I've tried have generally been too sweet - and the colour is off-putting to me, particularly when the wine disappoints.

After extolling the virtues of Marq Vermentino upthread, I decided to buy their 'special summer pack' of 3 each of Vermentino and the rose.

I'm very impressed. Everything that is said on the back label is spot-on - there's no BS with this guy. This rose has character IMO. I am seriously impressed with his wines.

Of course it's a serious wine - look who the wine maker is  ;)

R Wines Week (Chris Ringland)

Ringland's export to USA.

One is cheapie from South East Australia. Skull Red wine - very smooth easy swallowing.
Do you see the SKULL?

The other R cabernet sauvignon is rrp US$35. Interesting embossed bottle.

What is the Moss Wood Daver6?? I'd be interested in the tasting notes...as I have a couple slumbering...

JohnM was on the money. Was their 2007 Pinot Noir. Was the last bottle from a 6-pack that one of the members had. Fruit from Margaret River (surprised me). My notes aren't with me now, but it was a seriously impressive wine. Quite full bodied for a Pinot Noir and at eight years of age, had plenty of life left in it. The owner of the bottle remarked that he thought this was the best one and wished he hadn't consumed the previous five so young. Bottled under screw cap.

I went out for dinner last night in Belfast with a small group of people from my conference. Absolutely superb 5 course tasting menu with matching wines - some really interesting choices and the food was sublime. It's a bit quirky as you don't get to see the menu until afterwards. Highly recommend a visit.
